Pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate attenuates brain Aβ increase and improves long-term neurological outcome in rats after transient focal brain ischemia

open access: greenNeurobiology of Disease, 2012
Evidence suggests an association between brain ischemia and Alzheimer's disease (AD) development. Amyloid plaques consisted of β-amyloid peptide (Aβ) in the brain are a pathological hallmark of AD. Little is known about how brain ischemia induces AD-like

Synthesis, Characterization and Preliminary Anticancer Study of Novel 5-fluorouracil Conjugate with Pyrrolidine Dithiocarbamate as a Mutual Anticancer Prodrug

open access: diamondIraqi Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2019
5-Fluorouracil is one of the commonly used chemotherapy drugs in anticancer therapy; unfortunately treatment with 5-FU by solely has many drawbacks  low lipophilicity, low permeability, low molecular weight, and its relatively poor plasma protein ...

Pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate inhibits herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 replication, and its activity may be mediated through dysregulation of the ubiquitin-proteasome system. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Virol, 2013
Pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC) is widely used as an antioxidant or an NF-κB inhibitor. It has been reported to inhibit the replication of human rhinoviruses, poliovirus, coxsackievirus, and influenza virus.

TRIM14 Inhibition Suppresses Microglial Polarization and Pyroptosis Through the NF-κB/NLRP3 Pathway to Enhance Spinal Cord Injury Repair

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation
Spinal cord injury (SCI) triggers severe neuroinflammation, impeding recovery. While microglial M1 polarization and pyroptosis are key drivers, their upstream regulators are incompletely understood.

Zinc is required in pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate inhibition of NF‐κB activation [PDF]

open access: bronzeFEBS Letters, 1999
Pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC) is a potent inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa B (NF‐κB) activation. PDTC inhibited basal NF‐κB activity of endothelial cells. PDTC, however, failed to inhibit basal NF‐κB activity after withdrawal of serum in the media, and the inhibitory effect of PDTC could be restored by addition of zinc.

Pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate attenuates the development of monocrotaline-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension

open access: greenPathology - Research and Practice, 2013
We aimed to demonstrate the potential protective effects of pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC) on monocrotaline (MCT)-induced pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Adult male rats were randomly assigned to 4 groups: control group, MCT-treated rats only, MCT-injected rats treated with PDTC, and PDTC-treated rats only.
