A carbon nanotube/pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid zinc sponge for programmed management of diabetic wounds: Hemostatic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and healing properties [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Today Bio
Wound healing in patients with diabetes is challenging because of chronic inflammation, inadequate vascularization, and susceptibility to infection.

Ring Opening of Pyrrolidonecarboxylic Acid via a Metal Chelate

open access: yesAgricultural and Biological Chemistry, 1989
l-Pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid (PCA) is a cyclic compound derived on intramolecular dehydration of l-glutamic acid. The conventional method used for the conversion of PCA to glutamic acid has been hydrolysis with strong acids or alkalis at high temperatures.

Determination of asparagine, glutamine and pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid in total enzymic hydrolysates of peptides and glycopeptides by gas–liquid chromatography [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1973
A new procedure for the qualitative and quantitative determination of asparagine, glutamine and pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid in total enzymic hydrolysates of peptides and glycopeptides based on g.l.c. has been developed. Under the conditions of esterification and trifluoroacetylation N-trifluoroacetylaspartic acid mono-n-butyl ester was formed from ...

[Retracted] Hot Air Treatment Elicits Disease Resistance against Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and Improves the Quality of Papaya by Metabolomic Profiling

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Forced air heat treatment could induce defenses to protect fruit from pathogen attacks and has been applied as an alternative to methyl bromide for phytosanitary treatment before exportation. However, few studies were reported on the regulation mechanism of antifungal effect and delayed physiological disorders of papaya by heat treatment. Therefore, we

Artemisinin Alleviates Intestinal Inflammation and Metabolic Disturbance in Ulcerative Colitis Rats Induced by DSS

open access: yesEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Objective. This study is aimed to reveal the possible mechanisms of artemisinin in the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC) through bioinformatics analysis and experimental verification in UC model rats. Methods. Firstly, we searched two microarray data of the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database to explore the differentially expressed genes (DEGs ...

ESI-MS/MS Identification of a Bradykinin-Potentiating Peptide from Amazon Bothrops atrox Snake Venom Using a Hybrid Qq-oaTOF Mass Spectrometer

open access: yesToxins, 2013
A bradykinin-potentiating peptide (BPP) from Amazon Bothrops atrox venom with m/z 1384.7386 was identified and characterized by collision induced dissociation (CID) using an ESI-MS/MS spectra obtained in positive ion mode on a hybrid Qq-oaTOF mass ...

Cloning and heterologous expression of bovine pyroglutamyl peptidase type-1 in Escherichia coli : purification , biochemical and kinetic characterisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We describe the cloning, expression and purification of the bovine XM866409 form of pyroglutamyl-aminopeptidase I. The amino acid sequence, deduced from the nucleotide sequence, revealed that it consists of 209 amino acid residues and showed to have 98 ...

Real‐Time Imaging of Ammonia Release from Single Live Cells via Liquid Crystal Droplets Immobilized on the Cell Membrane

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 6, Issue 20, October 16, 2019., 2019
Ammonia (NH3) diffuses from the cell to the cellular microenvironment. With a dissociation constant (pKa) of 9.3, the NH3 + NH4+ content is 99% composed of NH4+ ions. The NH4+ ions interact with the COO−‐functionalized liquid‐crystals (LCs), which results in a radial‐to‐bipolar change of the LC droplet.
