[Retracted] Hot Air Treatment Elicits Disease Resistance against Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and Improves the Quality of Papaya by Metabolomic Profiling

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Forced air heat treatment could induce defenses to protect fruit from pathogen attacks and has been applied as an alternative to methyl bromide for phytosanitary treatment before exportation. However, few studies were reported on the regulation mechanism of antifungal effect and delayed physiological disorders of papaya by heat treatment. Therefore, we

Artemisinin Alleviates Intestinal Inflammation and Metabolic Disturbance in Ulcerative Colitis Rats Induced by DSS

open access: yesEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Objective. This study is aimed to reveal the possible mechanisms of artemisinin in the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC) through bioinformatics analysis and experimental verification in UC model rats. Methods. Firstly, we searched two microarray data of the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database to explore the differentially expressed genes (DEGs ...

Real‐Time Imaging of Ammonia Release from Single Live Cells via Liquid Crystal Droplets Immobilized on the Cell Membrane

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 6, Issue 20, October 16, 2019., 2019
Ammonia (NH3) diffuses from the cell to the cellular microenvironment. With a dissociation constant (pKa) of 9.3, the NH3 + NH4+ content is 99% composed of NH4+ ions. The NH4+ ions interact with the COO−‐functionalized liquid‐crystals (LCs), which results in a radial‐to‐bipolar change of the LC droplet.

A Pilot Study on Characteristics of Metabolomics and Lipidomics according to Sasang Constitution

open access: yesEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Although classification of an individual’s Sasang constitution is a key step in the prescription of traditional Korean medicine, the classifying process is complex and not objective. Identification of metabolic‐based biomarkers could allow the development of a reliable and sensitive classification technique and even therapeutic management.

LC‐MS‐Based Metabolic Fingerprinting of Aqueous Humor

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Methods in Chemistry, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
Aqueous humor (AH) is a transparent fluid which fills the anterior and posterior chambers of the eye. It supplies nutrients and removes metabolic waste from avascular tissues in the eye. Proper homeostasis of AH is required to maintain adequate intraocular pressure as well as optical and refractive properties of the eye.

Cloning and heterologous expression of bovine pyroglutamyl peptidase type-1 in Escherichia coli : purification , biochemical and kinetic characterisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We describe the cloning, expression and purification of the bovine XM866409 form of pyroglutamyl-aminopeptidase I. The amino acid sequence, deduced from the nucleotide sequence, revealed that it consists of 209 amino acid residues and showed to have 98 ...

Completion of the analysis of the primary structure of the variable domain of a homogeneous rabbit antibody to type III pneumococcal polysaccharide [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
The amino acid sequence between residues 70 and 116 of the V (variable) region of the H (heavy) chain derived from rabbit antibody BS-5, specific for type III pneumococcal polysaccharide, was determined.

In vivo kinetics of pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid formation in selected silkmoth chorion proteins.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1981
The protein products from one of the two major silkmoth chorion multigene families contain blocked NH2 termini. The blocked residue has been identified as pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid. Its formation occurs post-translationally, by modification of NH2-terminal glutamine, after removal of a 20-residue-long "signal peptide." Pyrrolidonecarboxylic acid ...

Phospholipides containing amino acids other than serine. I. Detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 1957
In view of the widespread occurrence of the amino acid-containing lipides and the unique course of their metabolism during development of Drosophila, we have carried out extensive investigations concerned with their isolation and chemical nature.
