The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Expansion of the propagation of chaos for Bird and Nanbu systems [PDF]
The Bird and Nanbu systems are particle systems used to approximate the solution of the mollied Boltzmann equation. In particular, they have the propagation of chaos property.

Statistical Mechanics of Multiply Wound D-Branes [PDF]
The D-brane counting of black hole entropy is commonly understood in terms of excitations carrying fractional charges living on long, multiply-wound branes (e.g. open strings with fractional Kaluza-Klein momentum).

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Synthesis of CdS and CdSe nanoparticles by thermolysis of diethyldithio- or diethyldiseleno-carbamates of cadmium [PDF]
Cadmium sulfide and cadmium selenide nanoparticles have been synthesised by a novel route involving the thermal decomposition of the bisdiethyldithio- or bisdiethyldiseleno-carbamates of cadmium in refluxing 4-ethylpyridine solutions. The nanodispersed

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Role of kinetic Alfvén waves in the non-extensive anisotropic earth’s magnetospheric plasma
Kinetic Alfvén waves (KAWs) contribute significantly to particle acceleration in the magnetosphere of Earth. In this paper, we discussed how the charged particles’ (electrons and ions) speeds vary with distance during the wave-particle interaction.

The skeleton of the UIPT, seen from infinity [PDF]
We prove that geodesic rays in the Uniform Infinite Planar Triangulation (UIPT) coalesce in a strong sense using the skeleton decomposition of random triangulations discovered by Krikun.
