Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Particle acceleration near a rotating charged black hole in 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity

open access: yesNuclear Physics B
We investigate the horizon structure and ergosphere in a charged rotating black hole within 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity, which introduces additional parameters (Q) because of the charge and Gauss-Bonnet parameter (β), besides the mass (M) and ...

The theory of early nonlinear stage of m=1 instability with locally flattened q-profile

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes, 2018
In this paper, we analyze the modification of fast particles on the nonlinear radial displacement of m = 1 internal kink mode with a shoulder-like equilibrium current theoretically.

Particulate trimethylamine in the summertime Canadian high Arctic lower troposphere [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2017
Size-resolved and vertical profile measurements of single particle chemical composition (sampling altitude range 50–3000 m) were conducted in July 2014 in the Canadian high Arctic during an aircraft-based measurement campaign (NETCARE 2014).

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Experimental study of the role of physicochemical surface processing on the IN ability of mineral dust particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
During the measurement campaign FROST 2 (FReezing Of duST 2), the Leipzig Aerosol Cloud Interaction Simulator (LACIS) was used to investigate the influences of various surface modifications on the immersion freezing behavior of Arizona Test Dust (ATD ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

The Propagation of Sunlight and the Size Distribution of Suspended Particles in a Municipally Polluted Ocean Water [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Waste discharge by the Los Angeles County Sanitation District (LACSD) affects sunlight in the ocean. Increased sunlight attenuance affects productivity and changes in ocean surface color could be useful for monitoring dispersal. Temperature, sunlight

Running bumps from stealth bosons

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2018
For the ‘stealth bosons’ S, light boosted particles with a decay $$S \rightarrow A A \rightarrow q \bar{q} q \bar{q}$$ S→AA→qq¯qq¯ into four quarks and reconstructed as a single fat jet, the groomed jet mass has a strong correlation with groomed jet ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.
