Q-switched operation of microchip lasers
Optics Letters, 1991With a novel Q-switching technique, 6-ns output pulses are produced from a single-mode Nd:YAG microchip laser pumped with 120 mW of cw optical power. Rate-equation analysis indicates that with a pump power of 500 mW, Q-switched Nd:YAG microchip lasers having subnanosecond pulses and peak powers of several kilowatts are feasible.

Vitreolysis With the Q-Switched Laser
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1985We present an overview concerning the current status of photodisruptive methods used in the treatment of pathologic changes in the vitreous space. In one series of 320 cases studied, 65% of the planned dissections of pathologic structures were successful. In a second series of 34 more complicated cases, the success rate was even lower.

Q-Switching In Fibre Lasers [PDF]
One of the most attractive features of fibre lasers is their ability to produce significant pulse powers when Q-switched. Potential applications for such lasers include non-linear switching, OTDR measurements, materials processing and range-finding. We have, already demonstrated 100W:15ns pulses from a diode pumped Nd3+ fibre-laser and have obtained ...

Diode-pumped Alexandrite lasers in Q-switched and cavity-dumped Q-switched operation [PDF]
We present the first study of Q-switched Alexandrite lasers under continuous-wave diode-pumping with operation up to 10 kHz repetition rates in TEM00, with spatial quality M2 1.15.

Q-switched Ti:Er:LiNbO3 waveguide laser
Optical and Quantum Electronics, 1999Q-switched operation of a Ti:Er:LiNbO3 waveguide laser has been achieved with up to 2.4 W pulse peak power (0.18μJ) at 2kHz repetition frequency with an intracavity Mach–Zehnder-type amplitude modulator. A theoretical model has been developed to describe the laser operation.

Passively Q-switched Tm:YLF laser
Optics Letters, 2012Stable passive Q-switching of a Tm: LiYF4 laser is obtained using polycrystalline Cr2+: ZnS as a saturable absorber. The achieved maximum pulse energy of 0.9 mJ and peak power of 65 kW for a pulse duration of ∼14 ns represent substantial improvement and highest values for a passively Q-switched diode-pumped Tm laser operating at ∼1.9 μm.

Q-switching the Erbium-YAG Laser
Journal of Modern Optics, 1994An erbium-YAG laser has been Q-switched by two methods; a mechanical technique employing a rotating output coupler and electro-optically utilizing a LiNbO3 crystal. The performances of each technique are assessed and compared. Pulse durations of 150 to 850 ns have been produced, with pulse energies of 1 to 16 mJ depending on the technique used.

Finite-difference time-domain methods to analyze ytterbium-doped Q-switched fiber lasers
Q-switched lasers are widely used in material processing, laser ranging, medicine, and nonlinear optics-in particular, Q-switched lasers in optical fibers are important since they cannot only generate high peak powers but can also concentrate high peak ...
