Dynamics Simulation and Experimental Investigation of Q-Switching in a Self-Mode-Locked Semiconductor Disk Laser [PDF]

open access: goldIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
Q-switching in a mode-locked laser not only makes the amplitude of every single output pulse unequal, but also limits the time width and peak power of output pulses.

Dual Regime Mode-Locked and Q-Switched Erbium-Doped Fiber Laser by Employing Graphene Filament–Chitin Film-Based Passive Saturable Absorber

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
We investigate the dynamics of high energy dual regime unidirectional Erbium-doped fiber laser in ring cavity, which is passively Q-switched and mode-locked through the use of an environmentally friendly graphene filament–chitin film-based saturable ...

Review of the Yb3+:ScBO3 Laser Crystal Growth, Characterization, and Laser Applications

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Passive Q-switching is an effective approach for generating pulsed lasers, owing to its compact and additional modulation-free design. However, to compare favorably with active Q-switching and multi-stage amplification, the output energy needs to be ...

On-Demand Q-Switching Regime in Optically Injected Dual-Section Quantum-Dot Laser

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2022
Pure Q-switching (self-pulsating) behaviour is shown for the first time in an optically injected two-section quantum-dot laser. Upon CW optical injection, it was possible to switch the operation regime from free-running mode-locking to locked Q-switching.

Passive Q-switched Dy:ZBLAN fibre laser at 3.1 µm [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2023
The passive Q-switching performance of an in-band pumped Dy-doped fluorozirconate fibre laser emitting around 3.1 µm is investigated. Passively Q-switched laser operation is demonstrated employing semi-conductor saturable absorber mirrors.

Generation of two identical ns laser pulses at single s spacing by switching output mirror transmission

open access: yesMetrology and Measurement Systems, 2020
Generation of two identical ns laser pulses spaced by a single s time interval by means of sequential switching of the output mirror transmittance in a diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser is reported, to our knowledge, for the first time. The theoretical study of
