Prediction of delayed graft function after kidney transplantation : comparison between logistic regression and machine learning methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: Predictive models for delayed graft function (DGF) after kidney transplantation are usually developed using logistic regression. We want to evaluate the value of machine learning methods in the prediction of DGF.

CLIP-QDA: An Explainable Concept Bottleneck Model

open access: yes, 2023
In this paper, we introduce an explainable algorithm designed from a multi-modal foundation model, that performs fast and explainable image classification. Drawing inspiration from CLIP-based Concept Bottleneck Models (CBMs), our method creates a latent space where each neuron is linked to a specific word.

A Solution for Automated Grading of QDA Homework

open access: yesProceedings of the Annual Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, 2023
Teaching research methods is important in any curriculum that prepares students for an academic career. While theoretical frameworks for qualitative theory building can be adequately conveyed through lecturing, the practices of qualitative data analysis (QDA) cannot.

The DD$^G$-classifier in the functional setting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Maximum Depth was the first attempt to use data depths instead of multivariate raw data to construct a classification rule. Recently, the DD-classifier has solved several serious limitations of the Maximum Depth classifier but some issues still ...

On-board Training Strategy for IMU-Based Real-Time Locomotion Recognition of Transtibial Amputees With Robotic Prostheses

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurorobotics, 2020
The paper puts forward an on-board strategy for a training model and develops a real-time human locomotion mode recognition study based on a trained model utilizing two inertial measurement units (IMUs) of robotic transtibial prosthesis.

Nonperturbative partonic quasidistributions of the pion from chiral quark models

open access: yes, 2017
We evaluate nonperturbatively the quark quasidistribution amplitude and the valence quark quasidistribution function of the pion in the framework of chiral quark models, namely the Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model and the Spectral Quark Model.

Andrews Style Partition Identities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We propose a method to construct a variety of partition identities at once. The main application is an all-moduli generalization of some of Andrews' results in [5].

Fast DD-classification of functional data

open access: yes, 2016
A fast nonparametric procedure for classifying functional data is introduced. It consists of a two-step transformation of the original data plus a classifier operating on a low-dimensional hypercube.

Making teaching an attractive profession: What are the challenges and opportunities for minority ethnic teachers in England?

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper explores the challenges and opportunities surrounding the recruitment and retention of minority ethnic teachers in England. Drawing on interview data from 33 teachers and school leaders of diverse ethnic backgrounds, it investigates whether racialised barriers identified in earlier research have shifted in the current context of ...

Sensory analysis of heated sodium alginate film flavored with chicken stock [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The spread of non-communicable diseases (NCD) is considered one of the top health problems worldwide. A low intake of fruits and vegetables in conjunction with a high consumption of foods rich in saturated and trans fats, salt and sugar has been reported
