QENS investigation of filled rubbers

The polymer segmental dynamics is investigated in a series of silica-filled rubbers. The presence of inert fillers in polymers greatly affects the mechanical and physical performance of the final materials. For example, silica has been proposed as a reinforcing agent of elastomers in tire production.

QENS study of trehalose/water/acrylamide–acrylic acid

Abstract This work reports quasi elastic neutron scattering (QENS) results on the trehalose/water/acrylamide–acrylic acid copolymer system, recently employed in agricultural chemistry. H/D substitution technique allows to separate the diffusive dynamics of trehalose from that of water.

Protonated and deuterated samples have been synthesized and characterized by 13C, 1H, 2H high resolution NMR, HPLC, TGA, DSC and mass spectrometry. QENS from polymer aggregates in supercritical CO2

Abstract We report QENS measurements from PS-b-PFOA aggregates in supercritical CO2. Line shapes are dominated by localized diffusive modes and segmental dynamics of the anchored, finite-length PFOA chains. For Q⩽0.6 A−1, we obtain effective diffusion coefficients of ≅0.8 10−6 cm2/s.
