Gene Co-Expression Analysis Reveals the Transcriptome Changes and Hub Genes of Fructan Metabolism in Garlic under Drought Stress

open access: yesPlants, 2023
Drought has become a serious environmental factor that affects the growth and yield of plants. Fructan, as an important storage compound in garlic, plays an important role in drought tolerance.

The Characteristics of Thunderstorms and Their Lightning Activity on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau

open access: yesAdvances in Meteorology, 2022
This paper discusses the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of cloud-to-ground (CG) lightning activity over the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP) from 2009 to 2018 and their dependence on meteorological factors. It is found that (1) the number of CG flashes fluctuates, reaches a maximum in 2014, and then gradually decreases.

Groundwater Rise Sustains the World's Largest Alpine Water System Under Global Warming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Shallow groundwater depth (SGWD) across the non‐permafrost plains of the Qinghai–Xizang Plateau decreased at averagely 0.02 m year−1, adding 31.44 Gt of freshwater storage from 2000 to 2020 and sustaining ∼53 500 km2 of alpine ecosystems. A vadose‐zone capacity of 426.6 Gt reveals these aquifers as promising reservoirs, highlighting groundwater's ...

Effects of Zein-Highland Barley Flour Composite Gel Network on the Quality of Gluten-free Highland Barley Noodles

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
To enhance the sensory quality of gluten-free highland barley flour products, this study investigated the effects of incorporating a highland barley flour-zein composite gel (at levels of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50%, mass fractions) on the dough ...

Differences in the Effect of Sanding Wind Speed Thresholds on Wind Erosion Assessment Results [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Soil wind erosion is an important cause of topsoil loss in arid and semi-arid areas of China, and the estimation of wind erosion is related to meteorology, topography, soil, vegetation and other factors, and the threshold value of sand initiation wind ...

Amplitude of climatic changes in Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau

open access: yesChinese Science Bulletin, 2000
On the basis of ice core and meteorological data from the Qinghai-Tibetan (Q-T) Plateau, this article focuses on the discussion of the problems related to the sensitivity of temporal and spatial changes of the climate in high-altitude regions, particularly in the Q-T Plateau.

Genetic Diversity, Adaptation, Wild Introgression, and Coat Color Mutation of Golden Yak

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Genetic diversity, adaptation, wild introgression, and coat color mutation of golden yak from two populations on the Qinghai‐Xizang Plateau. ABSTRACT The golden yak lives on the Qinghai‐Xizang Plateau with a golden coat and adapts to high altitudes and strong ultraviolet environment. The golden coat is a prominent phenotype in many domesticated species,

Adaptive Genomic Divergence Across Altitudes in Capsella bursa‐pastoris

open access: yesBiological Diversity, EarlyView.
Genomic divergence was observed between high‐altitude and low‐altitude populations of Capsella bursa‐pastoris in China, consistent with an important role of ecological factors. Candidate adaptive loci associated with enhanced energy metabolism, photoprotection, and growth plasticity under altitudinal stress were identified.

Independent leaf and root responses to autumn freezing in perennial herbs: Insights from cutting and transplant manipulations

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
In this study, we compared two sampling approaches to assess autumn freezing resistance. Our goal was to determine whether the commonly employed cutting method, which disrupts root‐tissue connectivity, provides a valid measure of true freezing resistance.
