Superconductor-insulator transition in nanowires and nanowire arrays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Superconducting nanowires are the dual elements to Josephson junctions, with quantum phase-slip processes replacing the tunneling of Cooper pairs.

Psychometric Properties of Pain Scales in Inpatient Settings: An Umbrella Review

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Nursing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims To identify the pain assessment scales with the best psychometric properties to be used by nurses in an inpatient setting. Design Umbrella review. Methods A comprehensive search of four databases was conducted for systematic reviews published from July 2013 to November 2024, focusing on psychometric properties of pain scales used in ...

Coupling between quasiparticles and a bosonic mode in the normal state of HgBa$_2$CuO$_{4+\delta}$

open access: yes, 2006
We report a doping dependent study of the quasiparticles dynamics in HgBa$_2$CuO$_{4+\delta}$ via Electronic Raman Scattering. A well-defined energy scale is found in the normal state dynamics of the quasiparticles over a broad doping range.

Evaluating the possible role of bottom currents and internal waves in shaping seafloor morphology in a mesophotic reef

open access: yesSedimentology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mesophotic reefs are located in low light conditions which, depending on the region, are usually found in water depths greater than ~30 m. They are less affected by ocean warming than reefs found in shallower water depths and thus might become increasingly important for the sustainability of marine biodiversity.

Hanbury-Brown and Twiss interference of anyons

open access: yes, 2012
We present a study of an Hanbury Brown and Twiss (HBT) interferometer realized with anyons. Such a device can directly probe entanglement and fractional statistics of initially uncorrelated particles.

The Prebiotic and Techno‐Functional Potential of Microbial Exopolysaccharides for Human Health and Food Systems

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Microbial exopolysaccharides (EPS) represent a diverse class of biopolymers holding considerable promise as functional food ingredients. This review analyzes the dual function of microbial EPS as a candidate for prebiotic agents and techno‐functional additives.

Bogoliubov theory of interacting bosons: new insights from an old problem

open access: yes, 2017
In a gas of $N$ interacting bosons, the Hamiltonian $H_c$, obtained by dropping all the interaction terms between free bosons with moment $\hbar\mathbf{k}\ne\mathbf{0}$, is diagonalized exactly.

Real‐World Effectiveness of Mepolizumab in Patients With Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps: Findings From the European CRS Outcome Registry (CHRINOSOR)

open access: yesClinical and Translational Allergy, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background The SYNAPSE phase 3 study demonstrated that mepolizumab significantly improves nasal polyp score (NPS), quality of life and symptom severity in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). Objective We aimed to evaluate mepolizumab effectiveness in a real‐world cohort from 12 tertiary centers in 6 European ...

New fabrication technique for highly sensitive qPlus sensor with well-defined spring constant

open access: yes, 2015
A new technique for the fabrication of highly sensitive qPlus sensor for atomic force microscopy (AFM) is described. Focused ion beam was used to cut then weld onto a bare quartz tuning fork a sharp micro-tip from an electrochemically etched tungsten ...

Solid‐State Vortex Laser at Eye‐Safe Band: A Perspective

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 2, 27 January 2026.
As one of the ideal vortex sources, solid‐state vortex laser at eye‐safe band has attracted considerable attention because of its potentials in multifunctional lidar. In this perspective, we summarize the schemes of eye‐safe vortex laser and discuss prospects for future development.
