A New Advanced Backcross Tomato Population Enables High Resolution Leaf QTL Mapping and Gene Identification

open access: yesG3: Genes, Genomes, Genetics, 2016
Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) mapping is a powerful technique for dissecting the genetic basis of traits and species differences. Established tomato mapping populations between domesticated tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) and its more distant interfertile ...

Bayesian QTL mapping using skewed Student-t distributions

open access: yesGenetics Selection Evolution, 2002
In most QTL mapping studies, phenotypes are assumed to follow normal distributions. Deviations from this assumption may lead to detection of false positive QTL.

Statistical Methods for Mapping Multiple QTL [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Plant Genomics, 2008
Since Lander and Botstein proposed the interval mapping method for QTL mapping data analysis in 1989, tremendous progress has been made in the last many years to advance new and powerful statistical methods for QTL analysis. Recent research progress has been focused on statistical methods and issues for mapping multiple QTL together.

QTL Detection for Kernel Size and Weight in Bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Using a High-Density SNP and SSR-Based Linkage Map

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
High-density genetic linkage maps are essential for precise mapping quantitative trait loci (QTL) in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). In this study, a high-density genetic linkage map consisted of 6312 SNP and SSR markers was developed to identify QTL ...

Advances in QTL Mapping in Pigs [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biological Sciences, 2007
Over the past 15 years advances in the porcine genetic linkage map and discovery of useful candidate genes have led to valuable gene and trait information being discovered. Early use of exotic breed crosses and now commercial breed crosses for quantitative trait loci (QTL) scans and candidate gene analyses have led to 110 publications which have ...

Decoding Human Placental Cellular and Molecular Responses to Obesity and Fetal Growth

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Women with obesity often deliver large‐for‐gestational‐age (LGA) infants. Single‐nucleus RNA sequencing of term placenta reveals that hypoxia and TNF‐α signaling in syncytiotrophoblasts are featured in maternal obesity, but inflammatory signatures in Hofbauer cells and response to lipid or carbohydrate metabolism in fibroblasts are specific to LGA.

Allele-Specific QTL Fine-Mapping with PLASMA [PDF]

open access: yesThe American Journal of Human Genetics, 2019
AbstractAlthough quantitative trait locus (QTL) associations have been identified for many molecular traits such as gene expression, it remains challenging to distinguish the causal nucleotide from nearby variants. In addition to traditional QTLs by association, allele-specific (AS) QTLs are a powerful measure of cis-regulation that are largely ...

Allelic Variation in Maize Malate Dehydrogenase 7 Shapes Promoter Methylation and Banded Leaf and Sheath Blight Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study maize chloroplastic malate dehydrogenase7 (ZmMDH7), is identified as a Rhizoctonia solani resistance gene in maize. ZmMDH7 is regulated by transcription factor ZmWRKY44 via pathogens challenge to elevate mitochondrial ROS and SA signaling pathway.

The Beavis Effect in Next-Generation Mapping Panels in Drosophila melanogaster

open access: yesG3: Genes, Genomes, Genetics, 2017
A major goal in the analysis of complex traits is to partition the observed genetic variation in a trait into components due to individual loci and perhaps variants within those loci.

Structural Variation and 3D Genome‐Driven DNA/RNA Methylation Divergence Contributing to Cotton Fiber Domestication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
These findings elucidated the crucial role of the “SVs‐3D genome remodeling‐epigenetic modifications‐gene expression” cascade regulatory network in cotton fiber domestication, offering both a theoretical foundation and genetic resources for molecular design breeding in fiber crops.
