Large Faraday Rotation in Liquid Crystals With Embedded Paramagnetic Ions (Cu2+, VO2+) at Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Large Faraday rotation at room temperature is observed in thin films of discotic copper (Cu2+: 3d9) and vanadyl (VO2+: 3d1) enaminoketone complexes. The large Verdet constant originates from a high density of paramagnetic centers, metal‐ligand p−d hybridization and π orbitals involved in optical transitions (identified by DFT calculations), as well as ...

Multiplicative quadratic maps

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper we prove that a multiplicative quadratic map between a unital ring $K$ and a field $L$ is induced by a homomorphism from $K$ into $L$ or a composition algebra over $L$. Especially we show that if $K$ is a field, then every multiplicative quadratic map is the product of two field homomorphisms.

Direct Measurement of the Singlet Lifetime and Photoexcitation Behavior of the Boron Vacancy Center in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Negatively charged boron vacancy defects in hexagonal boron nitride promise near‐surface quantum sensing, but their internal spin transition rates are only partly understood. This work directly measures the defect's singlet‐state lifetime, 15(3) ns, using a nanosecond rise‐time dual‐pulse photoluminescence‐recovery method, and shows that high laser ...

Invariant Curves of Quadratic Maps of the Plane from the One-Parameter Family Containing the Trace Map*

open access: yesESAIM: Proceedings and Surveys, 2014
The rigorous proofs are given: (1) for the existence of the unbounded invariant curves, containing the fixed point – source (μ + 1; 1), of the maps from the one-parameter family Fμ(x,y) = (xy, (x − μ)2), μ ∈ [

Properties of quadratic maps in a Banach space

open access: yesMathematical Notes of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, 1991
A quadratic mapping of Banach space into \(\mathbb R^ n\times \mathbb R^ n\) is \(Q(x)=A(x,x)\), where \(A: X\times X\to \mathbb R^ n\) and \(A\) is symmetric \(A(x_ 1,x_ 2)=A(x_ 2,x_ 1)\). Some topological and geometrical properties of \(H=\{x\in X, Q(x)\in C\}\), where \(C\) is a closed convex cone in \(\mathbb R^ n\), are considered.

Results on fixed points in b-metric space by altering distance functions

open access: yesHeliyon
We discuss the existence of a fixed point for a self mapping and its uniqueness satisfying (ϕ˙,η˙)-generalized contractive condition including altering distance functions of rational terms in an ordered b-metric space.

Modelling the Number of Periodic Points of Quadratic Maps Using Random Maps

open access: yes, 2017
Since the introduction of Pollard's rho method for integer factorisation in 1975 there has been great interest in understanding the dynamics of quadratic maps over finite fields.

Nonlocomotory Robotic Strategies for Dynamic Rotation Control in Terrestrial Robots: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Terrestrial robots increasingly require rapid body rotation to maintain stability and agility in complex environments. This review shows nonlocomotory rotational control strategies that operate without ground contact, including reaction wheels, tails, bars, limbs, and thrusters.

Multidirectional Motion Strategy of Miniature Water Surface Robot Actuated by Single Exciter

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A novel multidirectional motion strategy on the water surface based on a single exciter is proposed, and a single‐exciter single‐plate module is developed for actuation. The driving forces generation mechanism of the module is revealed from the perspective of the asymmetric surface wave field.
