Rescuing the nonjet (NJ) azimuth quadrupole from the flow narrative

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
According to the flow narrative commonly applied to high-energy nuclear collisions a cylindrical-quadrupole component of 1D azimuth angular correlations is conventionally denoted by quantity υ2 and interpreted to represent elliptic flow.

Observation of electric-quadrupole infrared transitions in water vapor

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
Molecular absorption of infrared radiation is generally due to rovibrational electric-dipole transitions. Electric-quadrupole transitions may still occur, but they are typically a million times weaker than electric-dipole transitions, rendering their ...

Effects of electric quadrupole interactions with tunable atomic mirrors

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2023
Recent studies have involved electric quadrupole effects in atoms interacting with the evanescent mode. This type of surface mode is usually produced by the total internal reflection in a dielectric-vacuum atz=0, and its intensity distribution is very ...

Intrinsic Interfacial Energy Alignment Enables ETL‐Free Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular orientation of the small‐molecule donor BTR‐Cl induces a vacuum‐level shift that pins the Fermi level at ∼4.4 eV at the active layer/Ag interface, enabling Ohmic contact formation without an electron transport layer. This strategy is extended to ternary PM6:Y6:BTR‐Cl devices, achieving an ETL‐free efficiency of 18.6% with enhanced operational

Quadrupole moment of 37K [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2008
The electric quadrupole coupling constant of the ground state of 37K(3/2+, 1.22 s) in a tetragonal KH2PO4 single crystal was measured to be |eqQ/h| = 2.99 +- 0.07 MHz using the beta-ray detecting nuclear quadrupole resonance technique. The electric quadrupole moment of 37K was determined to be |Q(37K)| = 10.6 +- 0.4 efm2, where the known electric ...

Counterintuitive Fluorescence Blue Shift in Symmetry Breaking Dicationic Bis(indolium) with Two‐Photon Absorption Properties for NIR Living Cell Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Highly water‐soluble dicationic bis(indolium) dyes have been prepared, showing excellent two‐photon absorption and light emission. Their fluorescence behavior discloses an unusual increasing blue shift with increasing solvent polarity, which, in parallel, is beneficial for enhanced detection in biological media.
