Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Effects of Combined Application of Nitrogen Fertilizer and Multiple Soil Amendments on Soil Properties and Bacterial Community Structure in Arid-Zone Jujube Orchards

open access: yesAgronomy
Jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill.) cultivation in arid regions of China faces severe soil constraints, including high alkalinity, low organic matter content, and poor water retention.

The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Molecular characterization and expression patterns of MTP genes under heavy metal stress in mustard (Brassica juncea L.)

open access: yesScientific Reports
Members of the Metal Tolerance Protein (MTP) family are critical in mediating the transport and tolerance of divalent metal cations. Despite their significance, the understanding of MTP genes in mustard (Brassica juncea) remains limited, especially ...

HVS-Based Quality Assessment Metrics for 3-D Images

open access: yes, 2010
Significant efforts from both the academia and industry have been devoted to advance three-dimensional (3-D) imaging technologies. However, accurate and easy-to-use visual quality assessment metrics still lack for 3-D images.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Analysis of Meiotic Behavior and 2n Pollen Formation Frequency in Triploid Hybrids of Chinese Jujube

open access: yesPlants
The Chinese jujube (Ziziphus jujuba Mill.), an economically significant fruit tree native to China, is valued for both fresh and dried uses. In plants, 2n gametes serve as the fundamental basis for creating a sexual polyploid germplasm.
