A multivariate analysis of genetic constraints to life history evolution in a wild population of red deer [PDF]
The long-term study has been largely funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). This research was supported by a NERC grant (to L.E.B.K., T.H.C.-B., and J.M.P.), a NERC postdoctoral fellowship (to C.A.W.), a National Sciences and ...

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

This research was supported by Wolfson College Cambridge (A.M.M.R.) and the Natural Environment Research Council (grant no. NE/K009524/1) (A.G.).Local mate competition (LMC) occurs when male relatives compete for mating opportunities, and may favour the ...

Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

The Heritability of Mating Behaviour in a Fly and Its Plasticity in Response to the Threat of Sperm Competition [PDF]
Phenotypic plasticity is a key mechanism by which animals can cope with rapidly changeable environments, but the evolutionary lability of such plasticity remains unclear.

Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Genes, culture and agriculture : an example of human niche construction
K. N. Laland was supported by an ERC Advanced Grant (EVOCULTURE).Theory and empirical data from a variety of disciplines strongly imply that recent human history involves extensive gene-culture coevolution, much of it as a direct result of human ...

Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.
