Feasibility of Quantitative Flow Ratio Virtual Stenting for Guidance of Serial Coronary Lesions Intervention

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2022
Background Coronary physiology measurement in serial coronary lesions with multiple stenoses is challenging. Therefore, we evaluated the feasibility of Murray fractal law‐based quantitative flow ratio (μQFR) virtual stenting for guidance of serial ...

Performance Back-deduction from a Loading to Flow Coefficient Map: Application to Radial Turbine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Radial turbine stages are often used for applications requiring off-design operation, as turbocharging for instance. The off-design ability of such stages is commonly analyzed through the traditional turbine map, plotting the reduced mass-flow against ...

Referral of patients for fractional flow reserve using quantitative flow ratio

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal - Cardiovascular Imaging, 2018
Abstract Aims Quantitative flow ratio (QFR) is a recently developed technique to calculate fractional flow reserve (FFR) based on 3D quantitative coronary angiography and computational fluid dynamics, obviating the need for a pressure-wire and hyperaemia induction.

Functional classification discordance in intermediate coronary stenoses between fractional flow reserve and angiography-based quantitative flow ratio

open access: yesOpen Heart, 2020
BackgroundMeasurement of the contrast-flow quantitative flow ratio (cQFR) is a novel method for rapid computational estimation of fractional flow reserve (FFR).

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Functional assessment in acute coronary syndrome: a systematic review of acute versus staged interventions

open access: yesREC: Interventional Cardiology (English Ed.)
Introduction and objectives: Several tools have been implemented to assess the functional significance of coronary lesions. Their reliability in the management of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) might be affected by alterations in the acute phase that go ...

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Flow Separation in Rocket Nozzles, a Simple Criteria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Cold and hot flow tests were conducted to investigate the flow separation in rocket nozzles. The results are presented. A separation data base including a wide range of literature data is established to evaluate the influence of propellant combination ...

Modelling pressure fluctuations during flow boiling in microchannels with inlet compressibility and resistance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Confined bubble growth during flow boiling at low pressures in microchannels generates pressure fluctuations that may cause transient flow reversals that disturb the flow distribution in heat sinks formed of parallel channels joined by plena.
