Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Modelling of coupled cross-flow/in-line vortex-induced vibrations using double Duffing and van der Pol oscillators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Many studies have typically applied a linear structural spring–mass–damper oscillator and a van der Pol wake oscillator to model a one-dimensional cross-flow vortex-induced vibration (VIV).

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Alternative methods for functional assessment of intermediate coronary lesions

open access: yesCardiology Journal, 2020
Wire-based fractional flow reserve (FFR) is a diagnostic tool used to evaluate the ischemic burden of coronary lesions. Large-scale studies have shown that FFR-guided revascularization is associated with better clinical outcomes.

Quantitative flow ratio vs. angiography-only guided PCI in STEMI patients: one-year cardiovascular outcomes

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders, 2023
Background Coronary physiology-guided PCIs are recommended worldwide. However, invasive coronary physiology methods prolong the procedure, create additional risks for the patients, and prolong the fluoroscopy time for an interventional cardiologist ...

Prognostic Implications of Prestent Pullback Pressure Gradient and Poststent Quantitative Flow Ratio in Patients Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2022
Background Coronary diffuse disease associates with poor outcomes, but little is known about its role after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We aimed to investigate the prognostic implication of pre‐PCI focal or diffuse disease patterns combined

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Impact of Preoperative Quantitative Flow Ratio of the Left Anterior Descending Artery on Internal Mammary Artery Graft Patency and Midterm Patient Outcomes After Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2023
Background In coronary artery bypass grafting, grafting a target vessel with nonsignificant stenosis increases the risk of graft failure. The present study aims to investigate the impact of preoperative quantitative flow ratio (QFR), a novel functional ...

Diagnostic performance of ultrasonic flow ratio versus quantitative flow ratio for assessment of coronary stenosis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cardiology
Ultrasonic flow ratio (UFR) is a novel intravascular ultrasound (IVUS)-derived modality for fast computation of fractional flow reserve (FFR) without pressure wires and adenosine. This study was sought to compare the diagnostic performance of UFR and quantitative flow ratio (QFR), using FFR as the reference standard. This is a retrospective study ...
