forqs: Forward-in-time Simulation of Recombination, Quantitative Traits, and Selection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
forqs is a forward-in-time simulation of recombination, quantitative traits, and selection. It was designed to investigate haplotype patterns resulting from scenarios where substantial evolutionary change has taken place in a small number of generations ...

Genetic interactions contribute less than additive effects to quantitative trait variation in yeast. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Genetic mapping studies of quantitative traits typically focus on detecting loci that contribute additively to trait variation. Genetic interactions are often proposed as a contributing factor to trait variation, but the relative contribution of ...

Quantitative Trait Locus Analysis of Longitudinal Quantitative Trait Data in Complex Pedigrees [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics, 2005
Abstract There is currently considerable interest in genetic analysis of quantitative traits such as blood pressure and body mass index. Despite the fact that these traits change throughout life they are commonly analyzed only at a single time point.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Cross correlations of the American baby names [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The quantitative description of cultural evolution is a challenging task. The most difficult part of the problem is probably to find the appropriate measurable quantities that can make more quantitative such evasive concepts as, for example, dynamics of ...

Segregation analysis of quantitative traits

open access: yesAnnals of Human Biology, 1999
A review of advanced methods of segregation analysis of quantitative traits on human pedigree data is presented. Special attention was paid to formulation of genetic models tested in the analysis, to the possibility of statistical distinguishing between these models, to the power of the used transmission probability tests, and to the possibility of ...

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Genetic diversity in F3 population of ornamental peppers (Capsicum annuum L.)

open access: yesRevista Ceres, 2019
Peppers belong to the Solanaceae family and present a wide genetic variability that may be accessed through phenotypic and genotypic traits. This work aimed to study the genetic divergence in an ornamental pepper F3 population by multivariate methods ...

A QTL for osteoporosis detected in an F2 population derived from White Leghorn chicken lines divergently selected for bone index [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Osteoporosis, resulting from progressive loss of structural bone during the period of egg-laying in hens, is associated with an increased susceptibility to bone breakage.
