Quantum Emitters in Hexagonal Boron Nitride: Principles, Engineering and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum emitters in hexagonal boron nitride have emerged as a promising candidate for quantum information science. This review examines the fundamentals of these quantum emitters, including their level structures, defect engineering, and their possible chemical structures.

Calculating the Electronic Transport Properties of Different Carbon Nanotube Based Intramolecular Junctions [PDF]

open access: yesIranica Journal of Energy and Environment, 2010
The electronic structure and the conductance of carbon nanotube based metal/semiconductor/metal intramolecular junctions are investigated numerically. The nature of electronic states at the interfaces and in the semiconductor section is analysed with the

How backscattering off a point impurity can enhance the current and make the conductance greater than e^2/h per channel

open access: yes, 2002
It is well known that while forward scattering has no effect on the conductance of one-dimensional systems, backscattering off a static impurity suppresses the current.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Fano resonance in electronic transport through a quantum wire with a side-coupled quantum dot: X-boson treatment

open access: yes, 2002
The transport through a quantum wire with a side coupled quantum dot is studied. We use the X-boson treatment for the Anderson single impurity model in the limit of $U=\infty $.

Single Pair of Weyl Points Evolve From Spin Group‐Protected Nodal Line in Half‐Metallic Ferromagnet V3S4

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A spin group (SG)‐based mechanism is proposed to realize a single pair of Weyl points. PT‐symmetric nodal lines (NLs) persist under T‐breaking, protected by the combination of SG and P symmetry. When considering spin‐orbit coupling, the SG‐protected NL will split into Weyl points, which will also induce anomalous transport phenomena arising from ...

Cascade of Quantum Phase Transitions in Tunnel-Coupled Edge States

open access: yes, 2004
We report on the cascade of quantum phase transitions exhibited by tunnel-coupled edge states across a quantum Hall line junction. We identify a series of quantum critical points between successive strong and weak tunneling regimes in the zero-bias ...

Anomalous Conductances in an Ultracold Quantum Wire

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2016
We analyze the recently measured anomalous transport properties of an ultracold gas through a ballistic constriction [S. Krinner et al., PNAS 201601812 (2016)]. The quantized conductance observed at weak interactions increases several-fold as the gas is made strongly interacting, which cannot be explained by the Landauer theory of single-channel ...

Synchrotron Radiation for Quantum Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Materials and interfaces underpin quantum technologies, with synchrotron and FEL methods key to understanding and optimizing them. Advances span superconducting and semiconducting qubits, 2D materials, and topological systems, where strain, defects, and interfaces govern performance.

Kondo effect in quantum dots

open access: yes, 2004
We review mechanisms of low-temperature electronic transport through a quantum dot weakly coupled to two conducting leads. Transport in this case is dominated by electron-electron interaction.
