Structural defects in graphene quantum dots: A review [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Quantum Chemistry, 2021
AbstractGraphene quantum dots (GQDs) are known for their low toxicity, strong fluorescence, high surface area, large solubility, and tunable band gaps. However, the change in their properties depends on the preparation processes of GQDs. Thus, certain types of preparation lead to certain defects, such as surface defect, edge defects, Stone–Wales defect.

Linewidth narrowing in self-injection-locked on-chip lasers

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications, 2023
Stable laser emission with narrow linewidth is of critical importance in many applications, including coherent communications, LIDAR, and remote sensing.

Enhanced current injection from a quantum well to a quantum dash in magnetic field

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2014
Resonant tunneling injection is a key ingredient in achieving population inversion in a putative quantum dot cascade laser. In a quantum dot based structure, such resonant current requires a matching of the wavefunction shape in k -space between the ...

Total energy calculation for the metallic hcp phase of Zn in the bulk, layered, and quantum dot limits

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics, 2020
The structural and electronic properties of the metallic hcp phase of Zn in the bulk, monolayer, bilayer, and quantum dot limits have been studied by using total energy calculations. From our calculated density of states and electronic band structure, in

High-resolution spectroscopy of a quantum dot driven bichromatically by two strong coherent fields

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2021
We present spectroscopic experiments and theory of a quantum dot driven bichromatically by two strong coherent lasers. In particular, we explore the regime where the drive strengths are substantial enough to merit a general nonperturbative analysis ...

InTlSb quantum dot structures

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
In this work, total (linear and nonlinear) optical absorption from InTl1−xSbx QD structures was studied. It is shown that these Tl-based QD structures have high absorption at long wavelengths. Nonlinear absorption at high power levels was preferred at some slow-light applications.

Sb2S3 Quantum-Dot Sensitized Solar Cells with Silicon Nanowire Photoelectrode

open access: yesInternational Journal of Photoenergy, 2015
We propose a novel quantum-dot sensitized solar cell (QDSSC) structure that employs a quantum dot/semiconductor silicon (QD/Si) coaxial nanorod array to replace the conventional dye/TiO2/TCO photoelectrode.

Impact of Local Composition on the Emission Spectra of InGaN Quantum-Dot LEDs

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
A possible solution for the realization of high-efficiency visible light-emitting diodes (LEDs) exploits InGaN-quantum-dot-based active regions. However, the role of local composition fluctuations inside the quantum dots and their effect of the device ...

Fabrication and evaluation of series-triple quantum dots by thermal oxidation of silicon nanowire

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2015
Series-connected triple quantum dots were fabricated by a simple two-step oxidation technique using the pattern-dependent oxidation of a silicon nanowire and an additional oxidation of the nanowire through the gap of the fine gates attached to the ...

Theoretical study of intraband optical transitions in conduction band of dot-in-a-well system

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2014
We study numerically absorption optical spectra of n-doped InAs/In015Ga085As/GaAs quantum dot-in-a-well systems. The absorption spectra are mainly determined by the size of a quantum dot and have weak dependence on the thickness of quantum well and ...
