An ultra-luminous quasar with a twelve-billion-solar-mass black hole at redshift 6.30
So far, roughly 40 quasars with redshifts greater than z=6 have been discovered. Each quasar contains a black hole with a mass of about one billion solar masses ($10^9 M_\odot$). The existence of such black holes when the Universe was less than 1 billion

Deep Spectroscopy in the Field of 3C 212 [PDF]
We present the results of longslit and multiaperture spectroscopy of faint galaxies in the field of the z=1.049 quasar 3C212. We show that an apparently aligned optical feature beyond the NW radio lobe has a redshift z=0.928, and a similarly aligned ...

Anisotropy Analysis of Bamboo and Tooth Using 4‐Angle Polarization Micro‐Spectroscopy
Super‐resolution via orientation: spatial distribution of specific molecular vibrations are revealed at 1/20 of the diffraction limit. ABSTRACT To investigate the anisotropic properties of biomaterials, two distinct classes are considered as follows: polymer‐based (cellulose in plants) and crystalline‐based (enamel in teeth), each demonstrating ...

Tracking Outflow Using Line Locking (TOLL). I. The Case Study of Quasar J221531-174408
Investigating line-locked phenomena within quasars is crucial for understanding the dynamics of quasar outflows, the role of radiation pressure in astrophysical flows, and the star formation history and metallicity of the early Universe.

We present spectra of QSOs 1343+266 A B, covering Ly-beta to C~IV emission at 2 ~resolution, and find further evidence that this system is not gravitationally lensed. We see, however, a large number of Ly-alpha and some C~IV absorption features common to both spectra.

Abstract Organic matter in carbonate rocks plays a crucial role in processes such as fluid flow regulation, carbon sequestration, contaminant transport, and hydrocarbon recovery. This study employed multimodal spectroscopic techniques, including fluorescence imaging and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, to characterize the spatial ...

Quasar outflows often consist of two clouds with velocity separations matching the doublet spacings of common UV resonance transitions, a phenomenon known as line locking, which is commonly observed in quasar spectra.

Formation of Condition‐Dependent Alpha‐Synuclein Fibril Strain in Artificial Cerebrospinal Fluid
α‐synuclein aggregation in artificial cerebrospinal fluid (aCSF) leads to a distinct conformation with an electron density pocket motif found in aggregates from PD and MSA patients. Such fibrils has low stability outside the reaction conditions, hinting about the influence of cerebrospinal fluid components not only on the formation, but also on the ...

Long Dark Gaps in the Lyβ Forest at z < 6: Evidence of Ultra-late Reionization from XQR-30 Spectra
We present a new investigation of the intergalactic medium near reionization using dark gaps in the Ly β forest. With its lower optical depth, Ly β offers a potentially more sensitive probe to any remaining neutral gas compared to the commonly used Ly α ...

VLT on-axis optical spectroscopy of the z=0.144 radio-loud quasar HE 1434-1600 is presented. The spatially resolved spectra of the host galaxy are deconvolved and separated from those of the central quasar in order to study the dynamics of the stars and ...
