Single and joint iterative decoding for higher order modulation schemes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The research project described in this thesis concentrates on the study, and application of specific channel coding techniques, in particular, low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, iterative decoding on Tanner graphs, and their application on joint ...

Facet‐Specific PbS Quantum Dot Passivation Using Halide Perovskites for SWIR Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
PbS quantum dots (QDs) are emerging as powerful short‐wave infrared photodetectors, yet the passivation mechanism of large QDs by perovskites ‐ critical for their stability ‐ remains unexplained. Here, we unveil the ligand structure of CH3NH3PbI3 (MAPI)‐passivated 4‐nm PbS QDs using FTIR, XPS, SEM, NMR, and DFT.

On the Girth of Tanner (3, 13) Quasi-Cyclic LDPC Codes

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Girth is an important structural property of low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes. Motivated by the works on the girth of Tanner (3, 5), (3, 7), (3, 11), and (5, 7) quasi-cyclic (QC) LDPC codes, we, in this paper, study the girth of Tanner (3, 13) QC ...

On p-Adic Estimates of Weights in Abelian Codes over Galois Rings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Let p be a prime. We prove various analogues and generalizations of McEliece's theorem on the p-divisibility of weights of words in cyclic codes over a finite field of characteristic p. Here we consider Abelian codes over various Galois rings.

Quasi-cyclic codes as cyclic codes over a family of local rings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We give an algebraic structure for a large family of binary quasi-cyclic codes. We construct a family of commutative rings and a canonical Gray map such that cyclic codes over this family of rings produce quasi-cyclic codes of arbitrary index in the ...

Continual Learning for Multimodal Data Fusion of a Soft Gripper

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Models trained on a single data modality often struggle to generalize when exposed to a different modality. This work introduces a continual learning algorithm capable of incrementally learning different data modalities by leveraging both class‐incremental and domain‐incremental learning scenarios in an artificial environment where labeled data is ...

Cyclic Codes over a Non-Local Non-Unital Ring

open access: yesMathematics
We study cyclic codes over the ring H of order 4 and characteristic 2 defined by generators and relations as H=⟨a,b∣2a=2b=0,a2=0,b2=b,ab=ba=0⟩. This is the first time that cyclic codes over a non-unitary ring are studied.

Concatenated Turbo/LDPC codes for deep space communications: performance and implementation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Deep space communications require error correction codes able to reach extremely low bit-error-rates, possibly with a steep waterfall region and without error floor. Several schemes have been proposed in the literature to achieve these goals.

Photonic Time Crystals and Time‐Varying Electromagnetic Metamatter: A New Direction for Ultrafast Tunable Photonic and Microwave Materials and Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photonic time crystals (PTCs) are systems in which electromagnetic parameters are modulated periodically in time, producing momentum bandgaps via temporal scattering rather than spatial Bragg processes. This review examines the theoretical frameworks, modeling, and computational tools for time‐varying media, and summarizes experimental demonstrations ...
