On quasi-elastic scattering of slow neutrons in molecular liquids [PDF]

open access: yesJournal de Physique Lettres, 1977
The rotational broadened quasi-elastic scattering spectrum of neutrons in a molecular liquid which is studied in the framework of the step formalism and the rotational diffusion approximation can be decomposed into simple Lorentzian distributions. The possibility of separately observing these terms in the experiment is discussed with respect to the ...

Effects of Transition Metals (TM = Nb, Ta, and Zr) on Thermodynamic and Electronic Properties of Advanced (Th1−xTMx)C (x = 0.1 and 0.2) Fuels: A First‐Principles Study

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances, Volume 4, Issue 1, March 2026.
First‐principles study reveals Zr‐doped ThC maintains superior thermal conductivity and rigidity; Ta‐doping induces structural softening, whereas Nb enhances covalent bonding. These atomic‐scale insights guide the design of advanced thorium‐based nuclear fuels with tailored thermomechanical properties.

Insights into the dynamics of breakup of the halo nucleus 11Be on a 64Zn target

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2019
We reexamine the elastic and breakup observables of the Be11+64Zn reaction at the near-barrier energy of 28.7 MeV. The measured quasi-elastic data are compared with CDCC and extended CDCC (XCDCC) calculations, the latter including the effect of the 10Be ...

Rotational Dynamics of Organic Cations in CH3NH3PbI3 Perovskite

open access: yes, 2015
Methylammonium lead iodide (CH3NH3PbI3) based solar cells have shown impressive power conversion efficiencies of above 20%. However, the microscopic mechanism of the high photovoltaic performance is yet to be fully understood.

Quasi-elastic neutron scattering studies of protein dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Results that shed new light on the study of protein dynamics were obtained by quasi-elastic neutron scattering. The triple axis instrument H-9 supplied by the cold source was used to perform a detailed study of the quasi-elastic spectrum and the Debye-Waller factor for trypsin in powder form, in solution, and in crystals.

Mapping the Residual Stress Distribution in Polycrystalline Quartz Tiger's Eye Using Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 10, Issue 6, 24 March 2026.
Residual stresses in Tiger’s Eye quartz have been mapped by combining Raman spectroscopy and electron back scatter diffraction. The study quantified stress distributions likely formed during cooling due to the anisotropy of thermal contraction. This non‐destructive methodology provides a reliable baseline for mapping stress in both natural polycrystals

Empirical Fit to Inelastic Electron-Deuteron and Electron-Neutron Resonance Region Transverse Cross Sections

open access: yes, 2008
An empirical fit is described to measurements of inclusive inelastic electron-deuteron cross sections in the kinematic r ange of four-momentum transfer $0 \le Q ...

Encapsulation of paclitaxel into a bio-nanocomposite. A study combining inelastic neutron scattering to thermal analysis and infrared spectroscopy

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
The anticancer drug paclitaxel was encapsulated into a bio-nanocomposite formed by magnetic nanoparticles, chitosan and apatite. The aim of this drug carrier is to provide a new perspective against breast cancer. The dynamics of the pure and encapsulated

Quasi-Elastic Neutrino Reactions on Carbon and Lead Nuclei

open access: yes, 2017
We examine neutral-current quasi-elastic neutrino-nucleus reactions on $^{12}$C and $^{208}$Pb targets. We use the relativistic mean field theory approach to describe the nuclear dynamics.

Quasi-free (p,2p) and (p,pn) reactions with unstable nuclei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We study (p,2p) and (p,pn) reactions at proton energies in the range of 100 MeV -- 1 GeV. Our purpose is to explore the most sensitive observables in unpolarized reactions with inverse kinematics involving radioactive nuclei.
