Complexation‐Mediated Diffusion‐Limited Crystal Growth: A General Framework for Anisotropic Crystal Growth in Cu‐Based Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Complexation‐Mediated Diffusion‐Limited Growth (CMDLG) framework is established to rationalize the anisotropic growth of lead‐free perovskites. Integrating coordination chemistry with mass transport kinetics, this study theoretically derives and experimentally validates that stable iodocuprate complexes induce a diffusion‐limited regime.

First-principles study on high-temperature thermodynamic and mechanical properties of intermetallic phases in Mg–RE alloys (RE = Tb, Dy, Ho)

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes
The thermodynamic and elastic moduli of secondary phases play a crucial role in governing the high-temperature mechanical performance of magnesium alloys.

Second law, entropy production, and reversibility in thermodynamics of information

open access: yes, 2017
We present a pedagogical review of the fundamental concepts in thermodynamics of information, by focusing on the second law of thermodynamics and the entropy production.

Enhanced Li‐Ion Battery Performance with Hybrid MXene/GnR Electrodes: Heterojunctions and Engineered Architectures Supported by DFT Mechanistic Studies for Improved Rate Performance, Stability & Capacity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) remain central to energy storage but suffer from slow ion transport and degradation. Here, we present a binder‐free Ti3C2Tx MXene/GnR hybrid electrode with a porous 3D architecture formed via freeze casting. The structure enhances conductivity, ion transport, and stability, delivering 401 mAh/g, ∼97% efficiency, and 92 ...

Study of a global monopole surrounded by perfect fluid in a static dyonic black hole

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
We study a static dyonic black hole endowed with a global monopole and surrounded by a perfect fluid with an equation-of-state parameter ω. This parameter relates to distributions of radiation, dust, and dark matter.

Precipitation and Growth Simulation of γ′ Phase in Single Crystal Superalloy DD6 with Multiphase-Field Method and Explicit Nucleation Algorithm

open access: yesMetals, 2020
The microstructure evolution of Ni-based superalloys during heat treatment is of great significance for obtaining better service performance. However, heat treatment experimentation is costly and time-consuming, and sometimes fails to reveal physical ...

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...

An energy fracture criterion based on dissipative inequality

open access: yesSt. Petersburg Polytechnical University Journal: Physics and Mathematics
A new approach to obtaining the energy criterion for the fracture of a thermoelastic body with a growing crack has been put forward. The criterion is based directly on the first and second laws of thermodynamics.

Second Law of Black Holes Thermodynamics in Non-Quasi-Static Processes

open access: yes
The Bekenstein-Hawking entropy satisfies the generalized second law of black hole thermodynamics for arbitrary thermodynamic evolution within Einstein-Maxwell theory. In contrast, the black hole entropy that satisfies the second law in low-energy effective modified gravity theories related to quantum gravity is derived solely by considering linear ...

Thermodynamics of Yukawa fluids near the one-component-plasma limit

open access: yes, 2015
Thermodynamics of weakly screened (near the one-component-plasma limit) Yukawa fluids in two and three dimensions is analyzed in detail. It is shown that the thermal component of the excess internal energy of these fluids, when expressed in terms of the ...
