Accessing self‐diffusion on nanosecond time and nanometre length scales with minute kinetic resolution

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, Volume 57, Issue 4, Page 912-924, August 2024.
A new analysis framework to treat quasi‐elastic neutron spectroscopy data recorded at discrete energy transfers has been developed. This new approach can be employed successfully for kinetic studies of diffusive dynamics.Neutron spectroscopy uniquely and non‐destructively accesses diffusive dynamics in soft and biological matter, including for instance

Polaron-mediated spin correlations in metallic and insulating La$_{1-x}A_{x}$MnO$_{3}$ ($A$=Ca, Sr, or Ba)

open access: yes, 2014
Neutron spectroscopy measurements reveal short-range spin correlations near and above the ferromagnetic-paramagnetic phase transition in manganite materials of the form La$_{1-x}A_{x}$MnO$_{3}$, including samples with an insulating ground state as well ...

Spin dynamics of strongly-doped La_{1-x}Sr_xMnO_3

open access: yes, 1997
Cold neutron triple-axis measurements have been used to investigate the nature of the long-wavelength spin dynamics in strongly-doped La$_{1-x}$Sr$_{x}$MnO$_3$ single crystals with $x$=0.2 and 0.3. Both systems behave like isotropic ferromagnets at low T,

Lithium Ion Transport Environment by Molecular Vibrations in Ion‐Conducting Glasses

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 7, Issue 3, May 2024.
Li ions present in glasses can be classified by evaluating their valence oscillations via Bader analysis to topologically analyze the chemical bonds. It is found that three types of Li ions are present in Li3PS4 glass, and that the more mobile Li ions exhibit a characteristic correlation at relatively long distances of 4.0–5.0 Å.

Strangeness content of the nucleon in quasielastic neutrino-nucleus reactions

open access: yes, 2007
We present a systematic study of the sensitivity of quasielastic neutrino-nucleus cross sections at intermediate energies to the strange quark sea of the nucleon. To this end, we investigate the impact of the weak strangeness form factors on the ratio of

Universal Stripe Symmetry of Short‐Range Charge Density Waves in Cuprate Superconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 36, Issue 3, January 18, 2024.
The symmetry of charge‐density‐wave (CDW) in copper‐oxide superconductors is an important clue for the longstanding conundrum of high‐temperature superconductivity. This novel RIXS mapping study corroborates unidirectional stripe as a fundamental symmetry of CDWs across cuprate materials.

Neutron scattering study on spin correlations and fluctuations in the transition-metal-based magnetic quasicrystal Zn-Fe-Sc

open access: yes, 2007
Spin correlations and fluctuations in the 3d-transition-metal-based icosahedral quasicrystal Zn-Fe-Sc have been investigated by neutron scattering using polycrystalline samples.
