Dynamics studied by Quasielastic Neutron Scattering (QENS) [PDF]
AbstractQuasielastic neutron scattering (QENS) allows measurement of the molecular displacements in time and space, from pico- to tens of nanoseconds and from Ångstroms to nanometers, respectively. The method probes dynamics from fast vibrational modes down to slow diffusive motion.

Quasielastic neutron scattering in biology: Theory and applications [PDF]
Neutrons scatter quasielastically from stochastic, diffusive processes, such as overdamped vibrations, localized diffusion and transitions between energy minima. In biological systems, such as proteins and membranes, these relaxation processes are of considerable physical interest.

Accessing self-diffusion on nanosecond time and nanometre length scales with minute kinetic resolution. [PDF]
A new analysis framework to treat quasi‐elastic neutron spectroscopy data recorded at discrete energy transfers has been developed. This new approach can be employed successfully for kinetic studies of diffusive dynamics.Neutron spectroscopy uniquely and non‐destructively accesses diffusive dynamics in soft and biological matter, including for instance

Hydrogen Dynamics in Hydrated Chitosan by Quasi-Elastic Neutron Scattering
Chitosan, an environmentally friendly and highly bio-producible material, is a potential proton-conducting electrolyte for use in fuel cells. Thus, to microscopically elucidate proton transport in hydrated chitosan, we employed the quasi-elastic neutron ...

Soft Phonon Mode Triggering Fast Ag Diffusion in Superionic Argyrodite Ag8GeSe6
Innelastic neutron scattering and Ab‐initio molecular dynamics simulations are employed to unravel that phonon softening on heating to Tc ≈ 350 K triggers fast Ag diffusion in the canonical superionic Argyrodite Ag8GeSe6, which illustrates the microscopic interconnection between soft phonons and mobile ions in superionic materials.
