Barrier distribution from 28Si+154Sm quasielastic scattering: Coupling effects in the fusion process
Barrier distribution for the 28Si+154Sm system has been extracted from large angle quasielastic scattering measurement to investigate the role of various channel couplings on fusion dynamics.

First-order transition in the itinerant ferromagnet CoS$_{1.9}$Se$_{0.1}$ [PDF]
Undoped CoS$_2$ is an isotropic itinerant ferromagnet with a continuous or nearly continuous phase transition at $T_{\rm C} = 122$ K. In the doped CoS$_{1.9}$Se$_{0.1}$ system, the Curie temperature is lowered to $T_{\rm C} = 90$ K, and the transition ...

Probing the dynamics of biological matter by elastic, quasi-elastic, and inelastic neutron scattering [PDF]
The so-called function-structure-dynamics paradigm established that a close relationship links the way biological molecules work (function), their 3-dimensional organization (structure) and the changes of this organization in time (dynamics), which ...

Diffusion in dense supercritical methane from quasi-elastic neutron scattering measurements
Methane is abundant in the Universe, is an important energy carrier and a model system for fundamental studies. Here, the authors measure the self-diffusion coefficient of supercritical methane at ambient temperature up to the freezing pressure, and find

Magnetic neutron scattering investigation of the field-induced Griffiths phase in FeCl2 [PDF]
Quasielastic neutron scattering has been utilized to investigate the Griffiths phase induced by an axial magnetic field in FeCl2 at temperatures Tc(H)<=T<=TN, where Tc(H) is the transition temperature in an external magnetic field H. We present the temperature dependence of the integrated neutron scattering intensity at fixed scattering vectors for ...

A note on quasielastic neutron scattering
We present a theorem that in coherent quasielastic neutron scattering on a confined and limited system of identical particles only the configuration-configuration correlations have to be examined without any hindsight on the distribution of the particles inside the configuration.

Scattering of the halo nucleus 11Be from a lead target at 3.5 times the Coulomb barrier energy
Angular distributions of quasielastic scattering and breakup of the neutron-rich halo nucleus 11Be on a 208Pb target at an incident energy of 140 MeV (about 3.5 times the Coulomb barrier) were measured at HIRFL-RIBLL.
