Achieving nanosecond time resolution with a two‐dimensional X‐ray detector
A proof‐of‐principle of a nanosecond time‐resolved experiment is demonstrated using a TEMPUS detector. The concept exploits an event driven mode of the detector and cross‐correlation analysis to overcome pixel dead time, and offers new opportunities for time‐resolved studies. The fastest pixel array X‐ray detectors can record images with nanosecond ...

Scattering fingerprints of two-state dynamics
Particle transport in complex environments such as the interior of living cells is often (transiently) non-Fickian or anomalous, that is, it deviates from the laws of Brownian motion.

Spin dynamics of strongly-doped La_{1-x}Sr_xMnO_3
Cold neutron triple-axis measurements have been used to investigate the nature of the long-wavelength spin dynamics in strongly-doped La$_{1-x}$Sr$_{x}$MnO$_3$ single crystals with $x$=0.2 and 0.3. Both systems behave like isotropic ferromagnets at low T,

Low‐Frequency Raman Spectroscopy of Polymers
Recent advances have made low‐frequency Raman spectroscopy accessible to the wider scientific community. This review discusses how low‐frequency Raman is particularly useful for researchers investigating polymers because the technique can help determine both the local and long‐range structure of materials, their thermodynamic properties, and their ...

Measurements of the neutron electric to magnetic form factor ratio G_(En)/G_(Mn) via the ^2H(e, e'n)^1H reaction to Q^2 = 1.45 (GeV/c)^2 [PDF]
We report values for the neutron electric tomagnetic form factor ratio,G_(En)/G_(Mn), deduced frommeasurements of the neutron’s recoil polarization in the quasielastic ^2H(e, e'n)^1H reaction, at three Q^2 values of 0.45, 1.13, and 1.45 (GeV/c)^2.

Time-Temperature Superposition of Structural Relaxation in a Viscous Metallic Liquid [PDF]
Bulk metallic glass-forming Pd40Ni10Cu30P20 has been investigated in its equilibrium liquid by quasielastic neutron scattering. The quasielastic signal exhibits a structural relaxation as known from nonmetallic viscous liquids.

Hydration of ds-DNA and ss-DNA by Neutron Quasielastic Scattering [PDF]
Quasielastic neutron scattering measurements were performed in hydrated samples of ds-DNA and ss-DNA. The samples were hydrated in a high relative humidity atmosphere, and their final water content was 0.559 g H(2)O/g ds-DNA and 0.434 g H(2)O/g ss-DNA.
