DEVELOPMENT OF CELLULOSIC PAPER-BASED TEST STRIPS FOR Cr(VI) DETERMINATION
Paper-based test strips specific for the Cr(VI) determination in aqueous solutions were developed by impregnating a color-forming reagent, diphenylcarbazide, and a quaternary ammonium salt (Aliquat 336) into paper sheets.

Brazilian organoclays as nanostructured sorbents of petroleum-derived hydrocarbons
Organophilic clays were prepared using a bentonite from the town of Boa Vista, state of Paraíba, Brazil, and a quaternary ammonium salt (Genamin CTAC-50). The materials obtained were characterized by X-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy.

The Role of Ionic Liquids at the Biological Interfaces in Bioelectronics
Ionic liquids (ILs) are highlighted as key artificial ionic materials that bridge biological ion‐based signaling and electronic devices. By understanding their composition, structure, function relationships, and mechanisms, ILs can advance from high performance electrolyte to core materials enabling integrated, multifunctional bioelectronics for ...

Quaternary ammonium salt derivatives of allylphenols with peripheral analgesic effect
Ammonium salt derivatives of natural allylphenols were synthesized with the purpose of obtaining potential peripheral analgesics. These drugs, by virtue of their physicochemical properties, would not be able to cross the blood brain barrier.

Alphaviral Capsid Proteins Inhibit Stress Granule Assembly via Competitive RNA Binding With G3BP1
Stress granules exert antiviral functions. This study illustrates a conserved function of alphaviral capsid proteins in modulating stress granules. Oligomerization mediated by a helical motif coupled with a positively charged intrinsically disordered region (IDR) directly competes with G3BP1 for RNA binding, thereby disrupting G3BP1‐RNA liquid–liquid ...

A mechanochemical Kolbe–Schmitt reaction of disodium catecholate enables the synthesis of mono‐ and dicarboxylated catechols at low temperature and CO2 pressure. Directly derivatizing the resulting carboxylic acid and phenolic moieties in the obtained mixture provides plasticizer blends with efficiencies competitive to commercial benchmarks.
