Asymmetric Mass Transport in Polybromide Ionic Liquids and Its Impact on Dual‐Plating Zinc Bromine Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates mass transport dynamics within polybromide ionic liquids in dual‐plating zinc–bromine batteries using operando impedance spectroscopy. The findings reveal that sluggish polybromide transport during dissolution contrasts with rapid bromide transport during charging.

A Low‐Permeability TEMPO‐Phosphate as an Anionic Posolyte for Aqueous Redox‐Flow Batteries

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Phosphate groups are appended to TEMPO‐based active materials for use in aqueous redox‐flow batteries. In addition to improving water‐solubility, these dianionic groups are strongly repelled by the cation‐exchange membrane, thus greatly reducing TEMPO crossover.

NUCLEOPHILIC SUBSTITUTION REACTION OF CYANIDE AND METHOXYDE IONS TO QUATERNARY MANNICH BASE FROM VANILLIN

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Chemistry, 2010
The nucleophilic substitution reaction to quaternary Mannich base from vanillin has been investigated. Mannich reaction to vanillin was carried out by refluxing mixture of vanillin, formaldehyde and dimethyl amine.

Amphiphile of Bis-Quaternary Ammonium Salt

open access: yesJournal of Japan Oil Chemists' Society, 2000
Amphiphiles of symmetrical bis-quaternary ammonium salts possessing ammonium groups, with methyl as head group, dodecyl and aralkyl as hydrophobic groups, and connected by an alkanediyl were synthesized. Aralkyls are p-heptylbenzyl and 8-phenyloctyl (corresponding ammonium salts are designated “phenylene type” and “phenyl type”, respectively).

Review: Insight on Porous Carbon Positive Electrode for Sodium‐Ion Capacitors: Interplay Between Synthesis, Properties, and Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sodium ion capacitor (SIC) is currently constrained by the low discharge capacity of commercial activated carbon as positive electrode material. This review provides a holistic summary of research efforts on alternative porous carbon materials for SIC. Image created by the authors with www.biorender.com.

GPX4 Inhibitor Resistance and Metastatic Features in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes breast cancer cell lines that are resistant to glutathione peroxidase 4 inhibitors (GPX4i) in vitro and investigates the metastatic capacity of the GPX4i‐resistant versus parental lines in vivo. GPX4i‐resistant cells survive upon intravenous injection, but lose capacity to spontaneously metastasize.

Harnessing Phase Separation for the Development of High‐Performance Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydrogels are indispensable for the development of next‐generation bioelectronics, soft robotics, and biomedical devices, where their mechanical properties determine performance and reliability. Among strategies to enhance hydrogel mechanics, phase separation enables controlled heterogeneity resulting in gel networks that are reinforced by ...

Reconstructed Polyamide Nanolayers via Two‐Stage Interfacial Polymerization Engineering for Precise Ion Sieving

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A reconstructed polyamide nanofiltration membrane is engineered via a two‐stage interfacial polymerization strategy for lithium extraction from complex brines. Incorporated bidentate quaternary ammonium monomers enable synergistic steric and electrostatic effects within sub‐nanometer channels, achieving 60‐fold lithium enrichment and demonstrating ...

Programmable RNA N6,2´‐O‐Dimethyladenosine Editing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT N6,2’‐O‐dimethyladenosine (m6Am) is a prevalent RNA modification located at the first transcribed nucleotide adjacent to the 5′ cap of mRNAs, where it has been implicated in gene regulation. However, the lack of methods for precise, transcript‐specific manipulation of m6Am has limited its functional dissection.

Towards an asymmetric β-selective addition of azlactones to allenoates

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry
We herein report the asymmetric organocatalytic addition of azlactones to allenoates. Upon using chiral quaternary ammonium salt catalysts, i.e., Maruoka’s binaphthyl-based spirocyclic ammonium salts, the addition of various azlactones to allenoates ...
