Free Subgroups of Quaternion Algebras [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1993
Using the theory of group actions on trees, we shall prove that if a quaternion algebra over Laurant polynomials is not split then a certain congruence subgroup of the group of norm one elements is a free group. This generalizes and gives an easy, conceptually simpler proof than that given by Pollen for the field of real numbers.

Quaternion Algebras with the Same Subfields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
G. Prasad and A. Rapinchuk asked if two quaternion division F -algebras that have the same subfields are necessarily isomorphic. The answer is known to be "no" for some very large fields. We prove that the answer is "yes" if F is an extension of a global field K so that F /K is unirational and has zero unramified Brauer group.

The estimation of eigenvalues of sum, difference, and tensor product of matrices over quaternion division algebra

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, the estimation problems of eigenvalues of sum, difference, and tensor product of matrices over quaternion division algebra are studied. A pair of inequalities about eigenvalues of self-conjugate quaternion matrix is established, the famous

Dictionary‐based weak‐form training for noise‐robust series hybrid models with multiplicative unknowns

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hybrid modeling combines first‐principles equations with a data‐driven subcomponent. Training for the data‐driven part is sensitive to measurement noise when training targets are constructed using pointwise time derivatives. Beyond differentiation errors, hybrid models involve solving an inverse problem to estimate the data‐driven term, which ...

Resolving passive heat transfer and phase‐change heat in cryogenic CO2 deposition (Desublimation) from CO2/N2 mixtures

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract In cryogenic CO2 desublimation systems where phase change dominates both heat transfer and separation, conventional lumped thermal‐resistance treatments embed interfacial latent heat into an overall heat‐transfer coefficient, obscuring how phase‐change heat is partitioned between the gas phase and the coolant and limiting diagnostic insight ...

Kac-Moody Quaternion Lie Algebra

open access: yes
This research aims to define Kac-Moody Lie algebra in Quaternion by using the concept of Quaternification of Lie algebra. The results of this research obtained the definition of Universal Kac-Moody Quaternion Lie algebra, Standard Kac-Moody Quaternion ...

A Unifying Approach to Self‐Organizing Systems Interacting via Conservation Laws

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
The article develops a unified way to model and analyze self‐organizing systems whose interactions are constrained by conservation laws. It represents physical/biological/engineered networks as graphs and builds projection operators (from incidence/cycle structure) that enforce those constraints and decompose network variables into constrained versus ...

On the determinant of quaternionic polynomial matrices and its application to system stability

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, we propose a definition of determinant for quaternionic, polynomial matrices inspired by the well-known Dieudonne determinant for the constant case.

Interpretability and Representability of Commutative Algebra, Algebraic Topology, and Topological Spectral Theory for Real‐World Data

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This article investigates how persistent homology, persistent Laplacians, and persistent commutative algebra reveal complementary geometric, topological, and algebraic invariants or signatures of real‐world data. By analyzing shapes, synthetic complexes, fullerenes, and biomolecules, the article shows how these mathematical frameworks enhance ...
