The Effect of Heat Treatment on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Cu-Al-Mn Shape Memory Alloy [PDF]
The 8-mm diameter bars of Cu-Al-Mn shape memory alloys were produced by continuous casting technique. The samples were characterised using optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy along with EDX analysis.

QUENCHING OF THE DEUTERON IN FLIGHT [PDF]
We investigate the Lorentz contraction of a deuteron in flight. Starting from the Blankenbecler-Sugar projection of the Bethe-Salpeter equation to a 3-dimensional quasi potential equation, we apply it for the deuteron bound in an harmonic oscillator potential (for an analytical result) or by the Bonn NN potential for a more realistic estimate. We find

THE QUENCHING TIMESCALE AND QUENCHING RATE OF GALAXIES
ABSTRACT The average star formation rate (SFR) in galaxies has been declining since the redshift of 2. A fraction of galaxies quench and become quiescent. We constrain two key properties of the quenching process: the quenching timescale and the quenching rate among galaxies.

THE USE OF CARBON, HIGH-CHROMIUM STEELS FOR LINERS OF MUD PUMPS AND DRILLING RIGS
The paper shows that high temperature heating (from 1 100 to 1 170 0C) for the subsequent quenching of high-chromium steels of a martensitic-carbide class 95X18 and X12MFL provides structure to the metal base, which consist of high-carbon containing ...

Positive solutions of the system \(u_t=u_{xx}-v^{-p}\), \(v_t=v_{xx}-u^{-q}\), \(p,q>0\), are studied. It is shown that for some choices of the parameters \(p\) and \(q\) there are initial data for which at a time \(t=T\in(0,\infty)\) one component of the solution vanishes at some point while the other stays bounded away from zero.

Precipitation Versus Partitioning Kinetics during the Quenching of Low-Carbon Martensitic Steels
Low-carbon, low-alloy steels undergo auto-tempering and carbon partitioning to austenite during quenching to martensite. The microstructures of two such steels quenched at two cooling rates have been evaluated using electron microscopy to characterise ...
