Clathrate hydrate crystallization

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Clathrate hydrate crystallization has been an area of interest to chemical engineers from the point of view of crystal structure, thermophysical properties, phase equilibria, kinetics, industrial applications, and environmental (climate change) implications.

HOMOLOGOUS CYCLONES IN THE QUIET SUN

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2014
Through observations with the Solar Dynamics Observatory Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) and Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager, we tracked one rotating network magnetic field (RNF) near the solar equator. It lasted for more than 100 hr, from 2013 February 23 to 28. During its evolution, three cyclones were found to be rooted in this structure.

Thermal‐induced fracture evolution and acoustic signature of Beishan granite: Insights into tensile strength of barrier system for high‐level radioactive waste disposal

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The tensile strength of granite, a proposed host for nuclear waste, degrades severely above 400°C. We link this to specific microcracking patterns captured by acoustic emission, establishing a scientific basis for assessing repository safety under thermal load.

First high-resolution look at the quiet Sun with ALMA at 3 mm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We present an overview of high resolution quiet Sun observations, from disk center to the limb, obtained with the Atacama Large mm and sub-mm Array (ALMA) at 3 mm. Seven quiet Sun regions were observed with resolution of up to 2.5" by 4.5".

An Experience‐Sampling Study on the Frequency and Diversity of Positive and Negative Affective States

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Social Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ecological models explain social phenomena by assuming specific properties of the world an individual lives in. The evaluative information ecology model (Unkelbach et al. 2019) assumes two such properties: Positive information is more frequent (i.e., positivity prevalence), but negative information is more diverse (i.e., negativity diversity).

Radiative emission of solar features in the Ca II K line: comparison of measurements and models

open access: yes, 2010
We study the radiative emission of various types of solar features, such as quiet Sun, enhanced network, plage, and bright plage regions, identified on filtergrams taken in the Ca II K line.

Interictal and seizure‐onset scalp electroencephalographic patterns in malformations of cortical development

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Malformations of cortical development (MCDs) are a frequent cause of drug‐resistant epilepsy and a common indication for resective epilepsy surgery. As magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) lacks sensitivity for subtle MCDs, supplemental diagnostic tools are needed.

Quiet Sun magnetic fields observed by Hinode: Support for a local dynamo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The Hinode mission has revealed copious amounts of horizontal flux covering the quiet Sun. Local dynamo action has been proposed to explain the presence of this flux.

Technoeconomic Assessment of Wind Power Potential in the Vicinity of GolGohar Sirjan Mining and Industrial Company

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Graphical abstract of wind energy study in the Vicinity of GolGohar Sirjan Mining and Industrial Company. ABSTRACT Wind energy is a central pillar of sustainable energy transition; however, its feasibility strongly depends on site‐specific wind regimes and economic conditions.
