This retrospective study compared two classification tools, the Dutch region count and the Peritoneal Cancer Index, for colorectal peritoneal metastases, and validated the results in a separate cohort. The region count was easier to apply, and may benefit doctors who refer patients to expert centres.

Tumour growth rate of carcinoma of the colon and rectum: retrospective cohort study
Few studies have evaluated the growth pattern of colorectal cancer. Forty‐three patients who underwent CT twice more than 5 weeks apart were included over a 2‐year interval. The median doubling time was 211 days, with a concerning suggestion of tumour progression.

Well selected patients with colorectal peritoneal metastases can be treated with curative intent by cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Treatment‐related healthcare costs are significantly increased among patients with extensive peritoneal disease, although the associated survival gain is limited.

Outcomes for high‐risk hepatoblastoma in a resource‐challenged setting
