Quinone and Hydroquinone Metabolites from the Ascidians of the Genus Aplidium
Ascidians of the genus Aplidium are recognized as an important source of chemical diversity and bioactive natural products. Among the compounds produced by this genus are non-nitrogenous metabolites, mainly prenylated quinones and hydroquinones.

Features of idebenone and related short-chain quinones that rescue ATP levels under conditions of impaired mitochondrial complex I. [PDF]
Short-chain quinones have been investigated as therapeutic molecules due to their ability to modulate cellular redox reactions, mitochondrial electron transfer and oxidative stress, which are pathologically altered in many mitochondrial and neuromuscular

Quinone and non-quinone redox couples in Complex III [PDF]
The Q cycle mechanism proposed by Peter Mitchell in the 1970's explicitly considered the modification of ubiquinone two-electron redox properties upon binding to Complex III to match the thermodynamics of the other single-electron redox cofactors in the complex, and guide electron transfer to support the generation of a proton electro-chemical gradient

A circular upcycling strategy transforms waste poly(ethylene terephthalate) bottles into microwave‐responsive Ni@C catalyst featuring lattice‐distorted nickel cores and defective carbon shells. These strain‐rich heterointerfaces enhance dielectric loss and promote localized microwave hotspots, accelerating peroxymonosulfate activation and polymer‐chain

This work establishes a novel method for generating multicellular liver organoids from control and MASH donor iPSCs. The model recapitulates several disease‐specific characteristics, with MASH donor‐derived organoids showing higher susceptibility. Lipidomic profiling of MASH organoids closely resembles MASH liver biopsies.
