Inapproximability for Metric Embeddings into R^d [PDF]
We consider the problem of computing the smallest possible distortion for embedding of a given n-point metric space into R^d, where d is fixed (and small). For d=1, it was known that approximating the minimum distortion with a factor better than roughly n^(1/12) is NP-hard. From this result we derive inapproximability with factor roughly n^(1/(22d-10))

ABSTRACT Background PIK3CA‐related overgrowth spectrum (PROS) includes several rare overgrowth disorders resulting from somatic gain‐of‐function mutations in PIK3CA. Despite treatment advances, including the recent approval of alpelisib for PROS in the United States, literature detailing the patient experience with PROS is limited.

ABSTRACT Background 131I‐metaiodobenzylguanidine (131I‐MIBG) radiotherapy is a key treatment for relapsed and refractory (R/R) neuroblastoma (NB). Patients with R/R disease treated in the modern era are increasingly exposed to anti‐GD2 immunotherapy, which exerts selective pressure and may modify both tumor cell state and microenvironment.

Background Breast cancer was previously categorized as human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-positive (immunohistochemistry [IHC] 3+, IHC 2+ / in situ hybridization [ISH]–positive) or HER2-negative (IHC 0, IHC 1+, IHC 2+/ISH−).

DNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PK) plays a major role in the DNA damage response upon double-strand break formation. Here, the authors show that the DNA-PK inhibitor AZD7648, enhances the activity of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and the PARP inhibitor ...

ABSTRACT Background Osteosarcoma (OS) and Ewing sarcoma (EWS) are the most common primary bone cancers in children, but acute thrombosis is poorly characterized in this population. Our study evaluated the rates of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and associated risk factors in pediatric patients with bone sarcomas treated over a 10‐year period encompassing

Remarks on the Standard Model predictions for $R(D)$ and $R(D^*)$
Semileptonic $b \to c$ transitions, and in particular the ratios $R(D^{(*)}) = \frac{Γ(B \rightarrow D^{(*)} τν)}{Γ(B \rightarrow D^{(*)} \ell ν)}$, can be used to test the universality of the weak interactions. In light of the recent discrepancies between the experimental measurements of these observables by BaBar, Belle and LHCb and the Standard ...

ABSTRACT Background Children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) are at risk of severe outcomes from SARS‐CoV‐2 (SCV2). In the post‐pandemic context, where most children have been infected with SCV2, there are limited data on whether vaccination remains beneficial in children with ALL.
