Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Geohazard linkages with surface geodynamics: a short-term temporal topographic analysis of mass movement and gradation patterns in the upper bhagirathi basin

open access: yesDiscover Applied Sciences
Surface dynamics are pivotal in shaping the Earth’s topography, which is convoluted with various geo-hazards such as mass movements and soil erosion processes.

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Productivity growth and R&D spillovers in Japanese manufacturing industry [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper estimates the contribution of R&D spillovers to productivity growth Japanese manufacturing industry by estimating two alternative measures of productivity growth and two different types of R&D spillovers. The results suggest that TFP growth is

Complexity factor for static anisotropic self-gravitating source in f(R) gravity

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2018
In a recent paper, Herrera (Phys Rev D 97:044010, 2018) have proposed a new definition of complexity for static self-gravitating fluid in general relativity.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Factor structure of the Life Orientation Test-Revised (LOT-R)

open access: yesActa Colombiana de Psicología, 2017
Optimism and pessimism are conceptualized as generalized expectations about events happening in people's lives, and are regarded as stable dispositions. The construct of optimism can be understood as being one-dimensional and bipolar, in other words, it ...
