Kinetics of Reactions of the Actinomadura R39 dd-Peptidase with Specific Substrates

open access: yes, 2016
The Actinomadura R39 dd-peptidase catalyzes the hydrolysis and aminolysis of a number of small peptides and depsipeptides. Details of its substrate specificity and the nature of its in vivo substrate are not, however, well understood.

Human Schlafen 14 Cleavage of Short Double‐Stranded RNAs Underpins its Antiviral Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 37, October 6, 2025.
SLFN14 is associated with human diseases. SLFN14 is found to cleave RNAs containing short duplexes. The cryo‐EM structures of SLFN14 and SLFN14‐hairpin RNA complex reveal that SLFN14 assembles into a ring‐like dimer; two RNase domains form an RNA‐binding groove accommodating a hairpin RNA.

Impact of regional white matter hyperintensity patterns on cognitive trajectories in NACC

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract INTRODUCTION White matter hyperintensities (WMHs) are a biomarker of small vessel cerebrovascular changes that can emerge early in Alzheimer's disease. While global WMHs correlate with cognitive decline, the impact of regional WMHs remains understudied.

Contributions of Clinical Obesity and Preclinical Obesity to the All‐Cause Mortality Risk: Findings From the UK Biobank Cohort

open access: yesDiabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews, Volume 41, Issue 7, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Background The definition of clinical obesity was newly announced. The aim of our study was to investigate the association of preclinical obesity and clinical obesity either at baseline or determined during follow‐ups with the risk of all‐cause mortality. Methods Data were collected from 232,721 participants in the UK Biobank.

Inhibition of dd-Peptidases by a Specific Trifluoroketone: Crystal Structure of a Complex with the Actinomadura R39 dd-Peptidase

open access: yes, 2016
Inhibitors of bacterial dd-peptidases represent potential antibiotics. In the search for alternatives to β-lactams, we have investigated a series of compounds designed to generate transition state analogue structures upon reaction with dd-peptidases. The

Coupling Modelling and Fault Propagation Simulation Method for Power Grid‐Centric Urban Lifeline Systems Under Extreme Disasters

open access: yesEnergy Internet, Volume 2, Issue 3, Page 255-273, October 2025.
ABSTRACT The interconnection of urban critical infrastructure poses new challenges to the secure operation of power grid‐centric urban lifeline systems. The interdependencies among infrastructure systems increase the risk of cascading fault propagation, thereby threatening urban public safety.
