Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Typical sumsets of linear codes

open access: yes, 2016
Given two identical linear codes $\mathcal C$ over $\mathbb F_q$ of length $n$, we independently pick one codeword from each codebook uniformly at random.

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Construction of Optimal Locally Repairable Codes of Triangular Association Schemes

open access: yesShanghai Jiaotong Daxue xuebao
As a new erasure code for distributed storage systems, locally repairable codes (LRCs) can effectively realize the reliable and efficient storage of massive data.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

On the codes over the Z_3+vZ_3+v^2Z_3

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we study the structure of cyclic, quasi-cyclic, constacyclic codes and their skew codes over the finite ring R=Z_3+vZ_3+v^2Z_3, v^3=v. The Gray images of cyclic, quasi-cyclic, skew cyclic, skew quasi-cyclic and skew constacyclic codes over

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

Rank-metric codes as ideals for subspace codes and their weight properties

open access: yesAKCE International Journal of Graphs and Combinatorics, 2019
Let q=pr, p a prime, r a positive integer, and Fqthe Galois field with cardinality q and characteristic p. In this paper, we study some weight properties of rank-metric codes and subspace codes. The rank weight is not egalitarian nor homogeneous, and the

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Explicit MDS Codes for Optimal Repair Bandwidth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
MDS codes are erasure-correcting codes that can correct the maximum number of erasures for a given number of redundancy or parity symbols. If an MDS code has $r$ parities and no more than $r$ erasures occur, then by transmitting all the remaining data in
