The small molecule simufilam dose‐dependently attenuates the worsening of seizures in a mouse model of tuberous sclerosis complex

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Novel epilepsy treatments for patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) and focal cortical dysplasia type II (FCDII) are urgently needed. In these patients, mutations in the mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway genes lead to mTOR hyperactivity and focal cortical malformations that frequently cause intractable epilepsy ...

Simulation on Rack and Pinion Meshing Based on Eccentric Load

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2019
In the design of the rack and pinion drilling rig, due to its special structural design, the center of gravity of the rig and the center of gravity of the transmission system are not in the same vertical plane.

An Efficient Quasi‐Static Condensation‐Based Framework for Seismic Analysis of Multi‐Supported Secondary Structures

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Multi‐supported non‐structural components (NSCs) are prone to seismic damage, yet their response prediction remains challenging when support motions are spatially incoherent. This study proposes an enhanced quasi‐static condensation (EQSC) method for linear, lightweight, dynamically detuned multi‐supported NSCs under the neglect of primary ...

Analysis of Contact Strength of Large Module Heavy Load Rack and Pinion

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2018
The rack and pinion engagement system is the key equipment for the rack and pinion drilling rig. The operation safety of the entire drilling rig platform is subjected to the strength of the rack and pinion.

Optimal Zone Boundaries for Two-class-based Compact 3D AS/RS

open access: yes
Compact, multi-deep (3D), Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) are becoming more common, due to new technologies, lower investment costs, time efficiency and compact size. Decision-making research on these systems is still in its infancy.

Chemotherapy‐Induced Nausea and Vomiting in Early Breast Cancer Patients Receiving Adjuvant Chemotherapy With Fluorouracil, Epirubicin, Cyclophosphamide Followed by Docetaxel Versus an Anthracycline‐Free Regimen With Docetaxel, Cyclophosphamide—Results From a Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) remains a significant clinical problem despite modern antiemetics. In particular, antiemetic strategies for emerging cancer therapies lack detailed evaluation. This randomized trial analyzed hourly CINV data for patients with early breast cancer who received either docetaxel plus cyclophosphamide (TC) or ...

Design and Meshing Analysis of 3-DOF Spherical Gears and Ring Racks

open access: yesJixie chuandong
A ring rack meshing with a 3-DOF spherical gear was proposed. The ring rack was composed of two ring-shaped rack tooth surfaces and two spherical tooth surfaces. It can realize the movement and rotation between the plane and the sphere, and theoretically

Macrophage extracellular vesicles deliver Mef2d proteins to aggravate Bacteroides fragilis pathogenicity in type 2 diabetes arterial calcification

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Bacteroides fragilis is associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D) arterial calcification and can be activated by macrophage‐derived extracellular vesicles (EVs). BF takes up EVs via receptor‐mediated endocytosis, and activation is induced by EV‐derived Mef2d, thereby inhibiting ArsR family transcriptional regulator transcription.

"Meet the Mobile Shoe Rack!" : Interviewing Participants

open access: yes
The science of how people interact socially with robots is still fairly young. One area of ongoing study is how people figure out the way the robot works -- that is, form a "mental model" of the robot.

The Non‐Professional Virtues of the Hospice Volunteer

open access: yesJournal of Applied Philosophy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Volunteers have long played a significant role in hospice care. Much of the care volunteers provide consists of weekly hour‐long in‐home visits. Home‐visiting hospice volunteers are not professionals, nor are they strangers or intimates. Hospice volunteers will not typically face moral dilemmas, nor be called upon to make dramatic decisions ...
