High radon levels and adverse environmental conditions in using RAD7

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2023
Abstract Good response was observed in simultaneously using six RAD7 detectors at high radon concentrations, temperatures and relative humidity conditions. RAD7 detectors were tested in laboratory using radon chambers from 13 up to 59.8 kBq m−3, statistical analysis allows to distinct between counting errors and radon variation.

RAD7 homologues contribute to Arabidopsis UV tolerance

Plant Science, 2018
Frequent exposure of plants to solar ultraviolet radiation (UV) results in damaged DNA. One mechanism of DNA repair is the light independent pathway Global Genomic Nucleotide Excision Repair (GG-NER), which repairs UV damaged DNA throughout the genome.

Crystal structure of the yeast Rad7-Elc1 complex and assembly of the Rad7-Rad16-Elc1-Cul3 complex

DNA Repair, 2019
Nucleotide excision repair (NER) is a versatile system that deals with various bulky and helix-distorting DNA lesions caused by UV and environmental mutagens. Based on how lesion recognition occurs, NER has been separated into global genome repair (GGR) and transcription-coupled repair (TCR).

Transposition of the gene cluster CYC1-OSM1-RAD7 in yeast

Journal of Molecular Biology, 1981
Abstract A mutant of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae contains an increased amount of iso-1-cytochrome c because two copies of a segment, denoted COR, were transposed to a new position on chromosome VII, while the original COR region was retained at the normal position on chromosome X; this COR segment encompasses the CYC1, OSM1 and RAD7 loci which

Correcting for H2O interference using a RAD7 electrostatic collection-based silicon detector

Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2016
The effect of water molecules on the electrostatic collection of 218Po ions onto the surface of silicon detectors (neutralization) is evaluated through the comparison with a scintillation cell (ZnS), not affected by air humidity. A radon monitor (RAD7, Durridge Company) was connected to a stainless steel radon chamber, equipped with the scintillation ...

Functionally distinct nucleosome-free regions in yeast require Rad7 and Rad16 for nucleotide excision repair

DNA Repair, 2008
In yeast, Rad7 and Rad16 are two proteins required for nucleotide excision repair (NER) of non-transcribed chromatin. They have roles in damage recognition, in the postincision steps of NER, and in ultraviolet-light-dependent histone H3 acetylation. Moreover, Rad16 is an ATP-ase of the SNF2 superfamily and therefore might facilitate chromatin repair by

Radon monitoring in groundwater samples from some areas of northern Rajasthan, India, using a RAD7 detector

Radiation Protection Dosimetry, 2012
Radon monitoring has been increasingly conducted worldwide because of the hazardous effects of radon on the health of human beings. In the present research, groundwater samples were taken from hand pumps at different areas of the districts of SriGanganagar, Hanumangarh, Sikar and Churu in northern Rajasthan. RAD7, an electronic radon detector (Durridge

Three additional genes involved in pyrimidine dimer removal in Saccharomyces cerevisiae: RAD7, RAD14 and MMS19

Molecular and General Genetics MGG, 1979
The ability to remove ultraviolet (UV)-induced pyrimidine dimers from the nuclear DNA of yeast was examined in two radiation-sensitive (rad) mutants and one methyl methanesulfonate-sensitive (mms) mutant of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The susceptibility of DNA from irradiated cells to nicking by an endonuclease activity prepared from crude ...

Determine the Contaminations of Radon in the Drinking Water Using NTDs (CR-39) and RAD7 Detectors

Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering, 2021
This presented study was performed to determine the contaminations of radon in twenty-five drinking tap water samples in Penang/Malaysia. The concentration of 222Rn, specific activity of 226Ra, radon emanation factor, equilibrium radon concentration, annual effective dose and mass exhalation rate were measured in drinking water samples available under ...

Improvement of measuring methods and instrumentation concerning 222Rn determination in drinking waters – RAD7 and LSC technique comparison

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2015
A procedure for the determination of (222)Rn in environmental water samples using liquid scintillation counting (LSC) was applied and optimized. A minimum detectable activity of 0.029Bql(-1) in a 20ml glass vial (10ml water sample mixed with 10ml of liquid scintillation cocktail) has been achieved during 300min of measurement time.
