Quantitation of platelet-associated IgG by radial immunodiffusion [PDF]
Abstract Platelet-associated IgG (PAIgG) was measured by a simple radial immunodiffusion technique using washed solubilized platelets and commercially available immunoplates. Subjects with normal platelet counts had PAIgG levels of 1.5--7.0 fg/platelet.

Background Colostral concentration of immunoglobulins (Ig) is crucial for the passive transfer of antibodies from the cow to the new-born calf. Direct determination of Ig by the gold standard radial immunodiffusion method is demanding in terms of time ...

Abstract Background Updated targets for measuring transfer of passive immunity (TPI) at the herd level have been suggested, but the current performance of dairy herds in Great Britain is unknown. Methods A cross‐sectional study was performed. Serum total protein (STP) data collected between October 2022 and October 2023 by 21 veterinary practices were ...

Use of the ROC curves for the evaluation of the Guillain-Barré diagnostic methods
Introduction: The ROC (Receiver Operating Characteristic) curves are widely used to compare methods in search of greater specificity and sensitivity in which they are selected.

Single Radial Immunodiffusion of Undiluted Serum Proteins
Abstract A simple method is described for quantitative determination of IgG, IgA, IgM, α2M, and other proteins without dilution of the sample. Strips of gelatinized cellulose acetate spread with antiserum are used as a supporting medium. The method is accurate, highly reproducible, and seems particularly suitable for routine work because

Risks for human health related to the presence of plant lectins in food
Abstract The European Commission asked the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) to assess the risk related to the presence of plant lectins in food. Based on the available evidence, the CONTAM Panel considered only phytohaemagglutinin (PHA), a legume lectin from beans (Phaseolus sp.), for the risk characterisation.

Identification of Antibodies to Chondrocyte and Synoviocyte Antigens in Equine Osteoarthritis
ABSTRACT Innate immune responses within the joint are now known to play a key role in osteoarthritis (OA) pathogenesis. However, comparatively little is known regarding the role of adaptive immune responses in OA, and whether they may be important for initiating and sustaining progressive low‐level joint inflammation.
