Impact of small mid-forest water reservoirs on trees radial increment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The aim of the study was to determine the effect of small forest water reservoirs on the radial increment of Scots pine and Norway spruce. We selected four small water reservoirs that were reconstructed in autumn 2006 in the Maskulińskie Forest District (

Fabrication of Fibers With Complex Features Using Thermal Drawing of 3D‐Printed Preforms

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
3D printing enables rapid fabrication of macroscale polymer preforms with complex geometries. Thermal drawing then scales these structures into long fibers while preserving micron‐scale cross‐sectional features. This workflow provides a fast, low‐cost route to functional fibers with tailored geometries and material combinations for catheter, robotic ...

Impact of climate change on radial growth of Siberian spruce and Scots pine in North-western Russia

open access: yesForest@, 2007
When adapting forest management practices to a changing environment, it is very important to understand the response of an unmanaged natural forest to climate change.

Programmable Pneumatic Actuator System for a Bioinspired Artificial Colon

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A modular soft robotic colon simulator driven by programmable pneumatic actuation is developed to mimic physiological and pathological‐like motility patterns of the large intestine. Finite element–guided design and distributed control enable anatomically realistic deformation for peristalsis, segmentation, and mass movements, supporting capsule ...

Laboratory Investigations on Mechanical Properties of High Temperature and Thermal Treatment (Rapid Cooling) Granite Under Unloading Confining Pressure

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering
High-temperature treatment can significantly affect the mechanical properties of rock materials, with the rate of temperature change (heating, cooling, or both) playing a crucial role in these variations.

From Rigid to Soft Robotic Approaches for Neuroendoscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Robotic assistance has had minimal impact on deep intraventricular surgeries, where small‐scale, precision, and reduced invasiveness can contribute to improved patient outcomes. Emerging technologies in rigid, soft, and hybrid robotics are reviewed to identify the most promising mechanisms for deep brain navigation in addition to an attempt to identify

Degradable Magnetic Composites from Recycled NdFeB Magnets for Soft Actuation and Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a degradable soft magnetic composite made from recycled NdFeB particles embedded in a gelatin‐based organogel. The material is processed into magnetic sensors and soft robotic components, which can later be dissolved in a green solvent to recover NdFeB magnetic particles.
