Point rupture solutions of a singular elliptic equation
We consider the elliptic equation $$ Delta u=f(u) $$ in a region $Omegasubsetmathbb{R}^2$, where f is a positive continuous function satisfying $$ lim_{uo 0^{+}}f(u) =infty. $$ Motivated by the thin film equations, a solution $u$ is said to be a

ABSTRACT Objective Cognitive decline is a disabling and variable feature of Parkinson disease (PD). While cholinergic system degeneration is linked to cognitive impairments in PD, most prior research reported cross‐sectional associations. We aimed to fill this gap by investigating whether baseline regional cerebral vesicular acetylcholine transporter ...

Semilinear elliptic boundary-value problems on bounded multiconnected domains
A semilinear elliptic boundary-value problem on bounded multiconnected domains is studied. The authors prove that under suitable conditions, the problem may have no solutions in certain cases and many have one or two nonnegative solutions in some other ...

The Existence and Uniqueness of Radial Solutions for Biharmonic Elliptic Equations in an Annulus
This paper concerns with the existence of radial solutions of the biharmonic elliptic equation ▵2u=f(|x|,u,|∇u|,▵u) in an annular domain Ω={x∈RN ...

A control volume scheme using compact integrated radial basis function stencils for solving the Richards equation [PDF]
A new control volume approach is developed based on compact integrated radial basis function (CIRBF) stencils for solution of the highly nonlinear Richards equation describing transient water flow in variably saturated soils.

We are concerned with the radial solutions of the Dirichlet problem $-\Delta u=K(|x|)f(u)$ on the exterior of the ball of radius $R>0$ centered at the origin in $\mathbb{R}^N \text{ with } N\geq 3$ where $f$ is superlinear at $\infty$ and has a ...

Approximate solution for the Lane-Emden equation of the second kind in a spherical annulus
In this paper, we derive accurate approximate solution of Lane-Emden equation of the second kind in a spherical annulus geometry. The approximate solution is obtained by analytic arguments, and perturbation methods in terms of small and large radial ...

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.
