Investigation of X-ray radiation response to electrical properties of Mo/Cu(In0.7Ga0.3)Te2/p-Si/Al semiconductor diode

open access: yesJournal of New Results in Science, 2023
Diodes are exposed to radiation in many operating environments, and it is important to investigate the radiation effect. In this study, the impact of X-ray radiation on the electrical properties of Mo/Cu(In0.7Ga0.3)Te2/p-Si/Al semiconductor diode was ...

The core structure of presolar graphite onions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Of the ``presolar particles'' extracted from carbonaceous chondrite dissolution residues, i.e. of those particles which show isotopic evidence of solidification in the neighborhood of other stars prior to the origin of our solar system, one subset has an

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

Evidence for the formation of two types of oxygen interstitials in neutron-irradiated α-Al2O3 single crystals

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Due to unique optical/mechanical properties and significant resistance to harsh radiation environments, corundum (α-Al2O3) is considered as a promising candidate material for windows and diagnostics in forthcoming fusion reactors. However, its properties

Influence of Sample Preparation and Processing Procedures on the Thermal Diffusivity of MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.

In situ nanocompression testing of irradiated copper. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Increasing demand for energy and reduction of carbon dioxide emissions has revived interest in nuclear energy. Designing materials for radiation environments necessitates a fundamental understanding of how radiation-induced defects alter mechanical ...

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Genomic stability in response to high versus low linear energy transfer radiation in Arabidopsis thaliana. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Low linear energy transfer (LET) gamma rays and high LET HZE (high atomic weight, high energy) particles act as powerful mutagens in both plants and animals.

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.
