An Application of the Mathieu Equation to a Radiative Transfer Problem

An eigenvalue problem which arises from a differential treatment of Compton and inverse Compton scattering in the equation of radiative transfer is studied analytically. The eigenvalues reported earlier from a numerical solution of this problem agree very well with these analytic results.
