A radical approach to radicals
Acta Crystallographica Section D Structural Biology, 2022Nitroxide radicals are characterized by a long-lived spin-unpaired electronic ground state and are strongly sensitive to their chemical surroundings. Combined with electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, these electronic features have led to the widespread application of nitroxide derivatives as spin labels for use in studying protein structure ...

Terrorism, radicalization and de-radicalization
Current Opinion in Psychology, 2016In this article, we review the literature and present a model of radicalization and de-radicalization. In this model, we distinguish three phases in radicalization: (1) a sensitivity phase, (2) a group membership phase and (3) an action phase. We describe the micro-level, meso-level and macro-level factors that influence the radicalization process in ...

On the Design of Radical–Radical Cocrystals
Angewandte Chemie, 2018AbstractFormation of radical–radical cocrystals is an important step towards the design of organic ferrimagnets. We describe a simple approach to generate radical–radical cocrystals through the identification and implementation of well‐defined supramolecular synthons which favor cocrystallization over phase separation. In the current paper we implement

We report the preparation and solid-state characterization of the perchlorophenalenyl radical (1). The radical is initially obtained as a yellow-green solid by reduction of the perchlorophenalenium salt (12(+)). This solid sublimes in a sealed tube to give black shiny hexagonal crystals of the perchlorophenalenyl radical (1).

Generation and Radical–Radical Cross-Coupling of Alkenyloxy Radical
Organic LettersAlkene-attached oxygen radicals are rarely used, as highly reactive oxygen radicals are incompatible with the alkene moiety. The direct radical-radical cross-coupling of O radicals is also challenging (limited to N-O bond formation) because of the lack of suitable persistent radical species.

Tuning radical reactivity for selective radical/radical cross-coupling
Science Bulletin, 2018Radical/radical cross-coupling represents a straightforward way for the construction of new chemical bonds in theory and has received more and more attention over the past several years. Until now, it is challenging to achieve the selective bond formation between two transient radicals since selective radical cross-coupling usually happens between ...

Radical Fashion and Radical Fashion Innovation
Journal of Global Fashion Marketing, 2010This is a study of the related concepts of radical fashion and radical fashion innovation. Radical fashions are defined here as those that may never enter the market at all, and exist primarily on runway shows, in exhibitions and in publicity; by contrast, radical fashion innovations may be very successful in the marketplace. Radical fashions represent

Radical and Radical–Ionic Multicomponent Processes
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2009AbstractAll in one pot! Radical, radical–ionic, and radical–organometallic MCR are highly convergent processes, representing a useful pathway to molecular and structural diversity (see scheme). This concept article highlights recent developments in the field and shows the potential of the strategy for the economical elaboration of various kinds of ...
