Role of Radio Frequency and Microwaves in Magnetic Fusion Plasma Research [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Institute of Electromagnetic Engineering and Science, 2017
The role of electromagnetic (EM) waves in magnetic fusion plasma—ranging from radio frequency (RF) to microwaves—has been extremely important, and understanding of EM wave propagation and related technology in this field has significantly advanced ...

The Nature of Coherent Radio Emission from Pulsars

open access: yes, 2017
The pulsar radio emission originates from regions below 10% of the light cylinder radius. This requires a mechanism where coherent emission is excited in relativistic pair plasma with frequency $\nu_{cr}$ which is below the plasma frequency $\nu_{\circ}$

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Predicting radio emission from the newborn hot Jupiter V830 Tau and its host star

open access: yes, 2017
Magnetised exoplanets are expected to emit at radio frequencies analogously to the radio auroral emission of Earth and Jupiter. We predict the radio emission from V830 Tau b, the youngest (2 Myr) detected exoplanet to date.

Experimental observation and computational analysis of striations in electronegative capacitively coupled radio-frequency plasmas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Self-organized spatial structures in the light emission from the ion-ion capacitive RF plasma of a strongly electronegative gas (CF4) are observed experimentally for the first time.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Observation of wave-packet propagation in the ion cyclotron range of frequencies in a tokamak plasma [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Experimental observation of wave-packet propagation in the ion cyclotron range of frequencies in a tokamak plasma is reported. Studies were carried out in the Caltech Research Tokamak [Phys.

Emission of Radio-Frequency Waves from Plasmas [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physics, 1961
Observations of the radio-frequency emission from extraterrestrial plasmas and plasmas produced in the laboratory are described, and various attempts at interpretation of the results are reviewed. Estimates are made of the probable loss of radiant energy from plasmas in proposed thermonuclear reactors.

A Systematic Comparison of Alpha‐Synuclein Seed Amplification Assays for Increasing Reproducibility

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Seed amplification assays (SAAs) enable ultrasensitive detection of misfolded α‐synuclein across biofluids and tissues. Yet, heterogeneity in protocols limits cross‐study comparability and clinical translation. Here, we review α‐synuclein SAA methods and their performance across various biological matrices.
