Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

The photoswitchable cannabinoid azo‐HU308 enables optical control of Ca2+ dynamics in INS‐1 β‐cells via off‐target effects on TRPC channels

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Light activation of the photoswitchable cannabinoid ligand azo‐HU308 triggers Ca2+ influx in pancreatic β‐cells through TRPC channels, independent of CB2 cannabinoid receptors. This reveals a non‐GPCR pathway for cannabinoid modulation of β‐cell Ca2+ dynamics and establishes azo‐HU308 as an optical tool to study cannabinoid signaling through TRP ...

A Target Search for Fast Radio Bursts Associated with Two Fast Blue Optical Transients: AT2018cow and CSS161010

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Fast blue optical transients (FBOTs) are luminous, rapidly evolving events with blue spectra, possibly powered by newborn magnetars and linked to fast radio bursts (FRBs).

Antibiofilm activity of a chionodracine‐derived peptide by NMR‐based metabolomics of cell‐free supernatant of Acinetobacter baumannii clinical strains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KHS‐Cnd peptide is able to impair biofilm formation and disaggregate mature biofilms in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates. Differences in extracellular metabolites reflect changes in biofilm metabolism due to KHS‐Cnd treatment. Among the differentially represented extracellular metabolites upon KHS‐Cnd treatment, the significantly altered ...

On the use of variability time-scales as an early classifier of radio transients and variables [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We have shown previously that a broad correlation between the peak radio luminosity and the variability time-scales, approximately L ~ t^5, exists for variable synchrotron emitting sources and that different classes of astrophysical source occupy ...

Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

An automated archival VLA transients survey

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper we present the results of a survey for radio transients using data obtained from the Very Large Array archive. We have reduced, using a pipeline procedure, 5037 observations of the most common pointings - i.e. the calibrator fields.

Towards 4U 1630-47: a black-hole soft X-ray transient odyssey [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
4U 1630-47 is a black-hole X-ray transient with one of the shortest recurrence times. Despite its regular outburst behaviour little is known about this source. Only recently has attention to this system increased.
